Without debating all those points (which I’m not going to do). You didn’t vote Ed for all of that. Or if you did, you did it in your head. You voted for Ed for NO REASON AT ALL. If you vote for someone YOU HAVE TO TELL US WHY YOU ARE DOING IT. Defending your vote by saying OMGUS or Ed is an idiot is why you are getting voted. If you wanted to vote Ed for all those reasons you should have listed them in the post where you voted it or earlier…but never later. I mentioned it up thread but IMO it’s a scum tell to vote for someone and then list your reasons later downthread. Pathetic scum tell, but I’ve seen it done before.
I stated my reasons when I voted for you. But I’ll repost them.
Are they really strong reasons? No. But, as I stated you’re as likely to be Scum as anyone else, and you are much more likely to play in an anti-Town fashion than anyone else.
Now, I will comment on the case you have put against me (I hope I find all the reasons as they are scattered)
You claimed your vote was OMGUS.
OK, there’s not much I can say about that.
You claim I am an idiot after you are pressed for reasons for your vote that go beyond OMGUS.
You are correct, but that’s more of a personal comment.
In post 316, you claim to not understand why people are voting for you. You also claim that people should understand the reasons for your vote.
You misunderstand the problem. People did understand the reasons you gave. That was why you were getting heat.
You make various comments about you being an easy bandwagon accusing me indirectly of trying to start a bandwagon on an easy lynch target.
That is a plausible reason. However, I’m not that big of an idiot. Why would I, as Scum, start a bandwagon on someone when I can sit back and watch one develop. Of course, the ‘scum wouldn’t do that’ comment can be actual WiFoM.
You go back to my post where I voted for you. You take a few words from it and then assign reasons for my vote.
Unfortunately, you are putting words in my mouth. I did **not **vote for you because I cannot understand you. I did offer to help, but I offered to help you be understood and have others understand you. I did **not **offer help with anything related to Day 1 votes. You come back to the not communicating. That was where I offered help. You ask for examples of where you have a posting problem. See, communication is the ability to transfer ideas from one person to another. Posting is typing something and hitting submit. You have no trouble posting. As long as you do not understand people and people do not understand you, you have trouble communicating. I could find examples. In fact, this is an example.
In post 323, you yell and state that you’ve already given your reasons for voting me. Then you create entirely new reasons for having voted me. Somehow related to me trying to save my Scum buddy Mental Guy from your vote.
You have always done 2 things in mafia, and you continue to do so. 1. You assume that your vote and comments are very important. You tend to view everyone’s behavior as a reaction to you. 2. You assume that everyone who disagrees with you must be Scum. I’m not sure why you think those 2 things, but you do appear to. I suggest that to improve your play, you actively work on diminishing these over reactions that you have.
In post 327 you ask me what you need to do to water down your post.
I have no idea what you mean. Which post needs to be watered Down, and what does watering down mean?
In post 328, you compare yourself to peeker and roosh.
In what ways do you find yourself similar to them? I do know that many people complain that peeker can be difficult to understand, but he is able to usually make himself clear when he wants to. Additionally, he has a solid grasp on the game of mafia itself. He also doesn’t tend to over react or over estimate his importance.
You again compare yourself to peeker. You also suggest that we adjust to you.
I think I understand now, he can be difficult to understand at times. That must be the similarity you are referring to. I have adjusted to you. I’ve done that by voting for you to remove a possible Scum and a definite distraction. (If you go back to my initial reasons, you’ll see that there.)
Now, if you’d like to rant, come up with new reasons for voting for me. Change the topic several times, and demand that other people change their playstyle while you stick to yours, I’ll come back and read all of it later and maybe respond then.
Meeko, relax. I know you think everyone is ganging up on you, and to some extent they are. But try not to give them too much reason to.
First off, OMGUS is not a reason to vote. Neither is if someone is an idiot. They can be reasons to go looking for a better reason, but by themselves they are not justifications.
SpEd’s reason for voting for you - that you are noisy and distracting - is not a fair reason to vote for someone, if only because it’s difficult to argue against. So that should have been your defence - it is a strange argument, impossible to defend against and that the emphasis should be on hunting scum. Flying off the handle, going nuts on the post count, OMGUSing and using personal insults is not a good defence - it made SpEd look right.
Your play style was much better up until that. Calm down, try not to lose objectivity and try to remount your defence coherently and without emotion. If you are going to explode like this very often, you risk derailing the game and that is not good for Town. What I said about that being not enough to base a vote on notwithstanding, I might just set that aside and vote for you in order to keep the noise down.
But please, please, please, don’t put Town in that situation. You are an asset to us, when you are at your best. Let’s see more of you at your best.
@Freudian Slit – You didn’t respond to my question. Why is Boozahol more scummy than the other players who voted Tom? You’ve atttacked him as being “too eager” to lynch, but why aren’t you applying that reasoning to the other players on that wagon (CatInASuit, Roosh, NAF)?
Was pleased to see lots of activity when I logged in this morning, but disappointed to see a lot of it is unproductive back-and-forth with Meeko.
@Meeko - Please read and absorb ed’s post #284, it’s a good guide to basic scumhunting.
This simply isn’t true, that attitude is anti-town. A competent town should lynch scum at a slightly better than random rate, that’s how we win. Players need to make judgements and vote for genuine reasons, so we have a useful record to refer back to later in the game.
I don’t think Lucille committed suicide…
Malahoth – I think there is a problem with the last vote count. Naf voted for Oredigger, not me.
Ed, you are voting for me, for non game reasons. What else can I do here?
Look, All I know is that I AM working on having you guys understand me. I am stating a point, and then I do my best to use smaller words. I do not know what else I can do. I am NOT doing this on purpose. **There is no “”“Meeko”"" switch, I am always on, always like this. **
I doubt that you understand me. I give you the best explanation I can, and you still go off my comments and make them what you want.
Again, for a Day 1 vote, I don’t think it is that bad of a case.
5.** I Do not get the source of 5. Why would I post something, if I didn’t find it important? And, you are voting for me. I’m not to take that as a personal reaction to me? WTF?!**
I can only hope that the last question on 6 is a Woosh. Otherwise, No Comment.
I associate my self with Peeker, because everyone says I am like him. If pressed, I would wager that we both are playing Mafia on a higher level than most players. [You can take this comment however you want. Number 6 checks in here as well. I have clarified my posts. I have pointed out where they are. I can only lead you to water, at some point, you must drink.
Yes, Let’s lynch one of the more valuable players that actually comes up with out there Ideas. Thats how survival of the fittest works. We kill the extraordinary among us, and we will win!!! … years and years and years later.
Nothing personal? I doubt it. I mean, If I am not to expect this from a former mason who would I expect it from?
**
Ed, if you Unvote me, I will Unvote you. **
That is the best I can do right now.
It might be a play out of Haggle, but at least it is something I can offer.
modkill or sub Meeko. Until you get it into your head that the game is not all about you, and that being as random as **peeker **or **Roosh **is only acceptable if you actually have something intelligent to say, you’re more or less just griefing the game.
By the same token, I’m not voting for Meeko. He hasn’t acted scummy, and in fact I would not be surprised to find that both frustrated townies AND scum are on his bandwagon.
And even if he DOES survive, I will (and I think EVERYONE should do this) ignore him until he starts playing Mafia instead of whatever the hell he’s currently doing. Simply refuse to address distracting or nonsensical behavior.
Now for the actual game:
@Tom: The problem with your slip wasn’t assuming the supernatural, the problem with your slip was that you assumed only one team would have supernatural powers. A lot of your defenses seem to focus on a combination of addressing the former and applying genre savvy. I really don’t think that actually helps you. As for FS’s defense of you, same problem–it’s obvious that the issue with your statement was the specificity of it, not the idea that there’s something “supernatural” going on in the color.
@MentalGuy: Odd–I’ve seen PIS slips nail a LOT of scum–especially in the LOST game we just had (I mentioned that earlier).
vote TomScud. It’s the best thing I have to go on right now.
Usually, the rule of thumb is to try and vote for the person you find scummiest, in the general hope that you actually hit scum.
However, it looks like **NAF1138 **is having trouble deciding who the scummier person he is following actually is.
It starts with a vote for Tom Scud, piggybacking on **Squid’s **comment. Next up he votes for Freudian Slit, saying although **TS **is scummier, he wants to get info from FS.
Then he votes Oredigger77, saying that although FS is being scummy, he wants to follow up a scum tell on Oredigger77. But is prepared to follow up on her bandwagon if it gathers steam.
Even though, his previous comment was the **Tom Scud **was more scummy
So, NAF1138, when it comes down to it, which one of the three are you going to leave your vote on, because it sure looks like you are jumping around a little too much.
Well. I’m pretty sure your case against me is totally unanswerable.
To start with, some players DID have a problem with my assertion that there was something supernatural going on. Check CatInASuit’s post.
Now, as to the supposed “specificity” of my post, let’s go back to the tape:
(Emphasis added)
Now, this was not a particularly helpful comment; I was guilty of treating a Mafia game as though it were a discussion-board thread about, say, who should play Sinestro in the Green Lantern movie or whatever. I obviously need to curb my tendency to think aloud like that in the future.
BUT, I did NOT say “only the scum have supernatural powers”. I said “there MIGHT be supernatural powers, PARTICULARLY in the scum…”. That is, there is a possibility of supernatural activity, derived from the name of the game and various genre elements I’ve already talked about extensively. And if there IS supernatural activity, it is likely to be predominantly on the side of Evil, also for genre reasons that I’ve gone into extensively.
I also don’t particularly appreciate your spending the last couple days randomly hovering and smudging me, but that probably has an element of OMGUS to it.
I appreciate that this is Day 1, and normally I’d extend you the benefit of the doubt on your prosecution here, that you were a Townie flailing around.
But then, there’s also the interesting first part of your post, which you handily bracketed out as “not part of the game”.
Why EXACTLY was your first reaction to ask for a modkill of Meeko? If you think he’s town, why not just ask for a sub, instead of both? It seems like a very good way to get 2 town lynches for the price of 1, while at the same time looking like a concerned Townie trying to avoid disruption, if you can build up a modkill-Meeko bandwagon.
