Hey, I claimed one shot vig. That ain’t really one of those roles that we need to keep hangin’ around until the end game, you know? I just wanted to forestall any ravening hordes of people coming for my blood based on the fact that I had neither Side nor wincon in my PM… but it turned out I’m not the only one.
I do think it’s reasonable to question the Wimpy Sherriff claim based on being too much, too early, though.
Cucuy why the heck did you claim? I assume Wimpy Sherriff is some sort of detective type role, correct me if I’m wrong, so I really don’t understand why you would do that. NAF’s I can understand, he kinda already outted himself with the questions and comments he made. And Boozy’s role is weak, so that’s a big meh. But yours? Bah. Anyone else with a power role needs to keep their damn mouth shut unless their about to be lynched.
I don’t know how interesting it is that Ped has one. So far the only people to state that they didn’t have one are the power roles. Zeriel has claimed vanilla and states that he has one. Or at least something resembling one. From that then, we can guess that Ped is either vanilla or non-Town. But that doesn’t tell us what specifically he is.
No, it isn’t an excuse after the fact. I expounded at length on my opinion of handshakes before this game even started. That’s the opposite of after the fact. It’s before the fact. And it’s not an excuse, it’s a standing of principles.
Meeko: I’m willing to accept that the win conditions are probably standard at this point. I don’t see any other way to play it, especially as my PM is completely coherent and typical from my point of view and includes the typical town win condition.

Personally I’m with pedescribe on the whole ‘handshake’ thing being very metagamey, but I’m even more against it because it’s quite apparent that not everyone’s PMs are going to match, even those who have claimed vanilla town. So can we just drop it?
I’m going to have to go back and re-read the entire first Day with all this new information.
Let me say that I am against claiming any Town power role this early in the game, unless a lynch is inevitable.
And let me also state that my lack of a defined wincon drove me to it. When NAF reported he’d investigated Boozy, and then Boozy claimed, I felt obligated to come forward as well.
I KNOW this is bad for Town, and after thinking about this overnight I am urging that NO OTHER POWER ROLES claim.

The entire deal there being, of course, you can say everything under the sun to start off with, and then when called on it, you can just refer back to the one statement you wish to abuse.

I claimed because I had accidentally outed myself as a power role and would rather not be marked for death without claiming first. I did the same thing over in Hawkeye’s game on Idle mafia but didn’t claim thinking scum might not have picked up on things and regret the hell out of it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many claims for so little reason. I guess we don’t have a doc outed so maybe there is hope that some are still in hiding. Since we’ve figured out the lack of a wincon is what separates the vanillas from the power roles I think we can quite worrying about handshakes and matching PMs.
I’m not sure what to make of these claims but most of them seem testable and we might want to try and verify them so we can build our group of confirmed town.

I was not role blocked last night. I do not know if we have role blockers in this game.
I recall that LOST Mafia was more or less, hindered by the fact that someone more less outed the scum role blocker.
