Weirdest. Lawn Ornament. Ever.

An Easter Island-style head would be kind of cool…

I should think chowder would welcome a gnome-eating gator.
I have no words for the dino-riding buddha-baby. Other than it should be wearing a helmet!

That is the weirdest thing. Everyone knows you can’t ride a Pachycephalosaurs like that. A Maiasaur would have been much more appropriate for a small child. Duh.

Tastes of Chocolate, if you ever get tired of your SO, send him my way.

I think I’m in love. Or, at least, very strongly in like.

Chortling at the thought of a “a 5’ long glowing red wireform gator, with an 16” long gnome in it’s stomach".

The only thing that would make it better would be if he had painted the gnome to look like it had been chewed on. But hey, at least the gator provides enough light for the gnome to keep reading!

I know Inglewood has a reputation for being a rough neighborhood. Does it also have a reputation for creative lawn ornaments that I’m unaware of?

It looks to me like the dinosaur is wearing a helmet.

Kinky.

Oh pretty please post pictures of this!

Wow, the coolest I’ve ever seen was back when I was in junior high, the schoolbus would sometimes go past a house with a homemade replica of Johnny #5 (from Short Circuit). But I think this might beat that, if only on surrealism value.

Creative? Maybe not. No taste? Maybe so.

I only spotted it because I was visiting the township-wide garage sales (which are pretty good in H.P., BTW), in which I drive about randomly, or like a Roomba, so my sense of location and direction (which are questionable under ordinary circumstances) are less than GPS-reliable. But having said that, I’m pretty sure it was in the NW quadrant of the town, on the north side, between River Road and probably 4th Ave., quite likely on one of the streets named for 19th-C. presidents, and probably on the north side of the street.

The head is placed pretty much up against the front of the house, off on the left side (from the viewer’s perspective, from the street) of the front door, surrounded by attractive landscaping (which may be largely denuded now, due to the season). IIRC it’s about 5 or 6 feet tall, so it lacks the sheer jaw-dropping sense of majesty possessed by the real deal, but it’s pretty impressive nonetheless.

If I were to try to find it now, I’d head for the NW part of town, suspend my attempts at rational navigation (because whenever I try to reason through a choice on the road, I always guess wrong), and make like I’m hunting killer garage sale bargains. But YMMV… happy hunting!

Maybe it’s just me, but from that front view, does it look like maybe the baby jesus buddhist monk is riding a giant scaly penis?

That baby would go great in my neighborhood, where I have the folks next to me with this: Picture or Video 096 | Olympus digital camera | Karlen Sanberg | Flickr and the folks across the street from me with this: scary rabbit | Karlen Sanberg | Flickr.

Shaddup! We’re fuckin’ classy around here!

The dinosaur appears to be a Stegoceras

The skull I’ve seen of the similar Pachycephalosaurus is too small.

From boingboing.net I saw this sign, which made me think of this thread, since the OP’s pics made me think of the Creationist Museum too.

More directly related on that website however is this, the trojan pig. “Yardifacts,” as they call them appears to be a recurring feature on the site.

I like your neighborhood…

I was out in rural Victoria (Australia) on Friday, and saw a life sized ornament of a pig pushing a lawnmower. This was enough for us to shake our heads in dismay…

…until not 30 seconds later, we passed a full scale elephant standing in a trailer.

I wish we had taken pics so I could prove it.

This thread inspires me to build something eight feet tall, and put it on my parents’ front yard. Just for the WTF reactions, dontchaknow.

Talk me out of it.

Ah, Google Maps comes to the rescue.

Here’s the elephant.

And here’s the Pig.

My first thought was I need one for my yard. My second thought is why is the baby’s hand in its pants?

Somewhere near here is a house with two tiny Godzilla statues on either side of the driveway.

I need to spend more time in the midwest!

I just searched “lawn ornaments” in Flickr and came up with some real gems:
