Welcome is it????

I am wondering if it is the general approach towards new people here to follow on their threads and try to be what I would generally call a nitpick.

From what I have read in the rules of this forum it is inappropriate to attack ones person anywhere except in the BBQ and even there people are supposed to show a little grace.

I find it strange to people with a lot of posting on their back using offensive terms and language in other parts of the forum.

The discussions here obviously vary from the highly interesting ones to the close to ridiculous ones to the most mundane, life in general. Which I find fascinating.

I try in most parts to give other peoples ideas some space and chance in my life, I have nothing against a good argument about what ever in the world, but once the argument is about ones character I find it to have gone to the level that in most cases I care not to walk that path.

I wish to thank those I’ve met in the last 36 hours or so on this board for a lot of enlightenment, and the ones the first part of this letter fit to, your words speak for yourselves and I don’t think I have to waste more words on you your maturity is a shining example.

I think that you should give people the space and respect to learn in on the boards and give what you think to yourselves to be stupid opinions a chance, others do that everywhere except in the BBQ where of course one is supposed to steam out.

If the thing is that you believe me to be that other Individual that you spoke of the Infidel, which does seem to have caused you some grief, your reaction is reasonable.

I guess it will be a pretty easy thing for the sysops to find out if I am and then clear that.

With a sigh and a practised bow of respect
The Unbeliever.

And your point is?
(I’m not intending to be mean here - your OP is all over the place, and I don’t really understand what you are trying to say. Brevity and clarity go a long way around here.)

Oh, and what you call nitpicking may just be old-timers giving pointers to newbies. Granted, not always in the kindest fashion.

And last, but not least, you will be asked for links when you post threads like this.

Well I thought The great debates was a place where you would put forth an idea or a thought where others would either ignore or share their thoughts on the subject.

Well I don’t really see the relevance to the subject of that thread in either ignatzmouse or Reeder’s posts there.

Pointers and corrections from more experienced users are of course welcome and I would be pretty much of an arse now if I couldn’t learn but I don’t really see any teaching in those comments, and they look more like comments fitting here in the bbq than there

Respectfully
The Unbeliever.

Your thread got caught in some flak from infidel’s banning. It is very hard to resurrect anything after it gets hit with that sort of shit. The people who attacked you as a sock were being jerks. That said, even with the OP’s best intentions, debates can turn nasty very quckly. It’s one of the consequences of having a diverse group of board participants. There’s always someone who thinks that whatever you say is foulest blasphemy.

((((Unbeliever))))

Why would you care. This is not real life. I admit; I don’t understand the odious answers one get sometimes, but there are other boards.

I just step in now and then to see how unpolite people can be - and then I go back to my life.

Far kinder, funnier and smarter people there.

Unbeliever, I am willing to believe that you are not Infidel returning; however, that means that you are the victim of some massively bad luck. I’m sorry for insinuating that you are a sock puppet.

I would recommend that you post in MPSIMS and IMHo and the other friendlier forums than the Pit; the Pit is not a great place to start.

He didn’t start at the pit. nitwit.

see his, or her link.

Daffodil, when I first encountered Unbeliever just yesterday, he had posted in four threads, three of which were in the Pit, including one he started himself. So yes, he did start in the Pit, and also in Great Debates, which also not necessarily a good place to post before you know the conventions of the board. And now he has started another Pit thread.

You’re the person abused me for apologizing to Unbeliever and trying to give him some advice. You find what you look for.

–John

…you know, really, I think you’ve just gotten a bad taste of things, Unbeliever. Not to mention some horrible luck. Give it another chance. Really. I’m new myself, and I find this place to be interesting.

As far as starting in the Pit…it can be done. Most of my first posts (with the exception of one or two really asinine ones in GQ :o) have been here, and I believe that other, much more respected members have said that they started here, too (I seem to recall Esprix saying this, at least). So it can be done.

Actually, I started in the Pit, too… I just don’t think its a good general strategy. I lurked for about 6 months before I posted the first time, and there were a lot fewer forums at the time. It’s certainly possible to start out in the Pit, though, it’s just more dangerous. Since Unbeliever didn’t seem to be having fun, I thought a change in strategy might be called for.

I just want to say thank you for responding to this message, The main idea was to get the attention to the point of clearing me from the name of that Infidel character, it is a rather amusing coincidence about the names though, and I say that there are no hard feelings about this since I can see how the names are connected at first sight.

I can only repeat that the Unbeliever name comes from the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, which I read some years ago and to this day like a lot.
<Yue Han> Tips graciously accepted

<daffodil > well that’s right why should I care, well I won’t loose sleep over someone’s opinions on the web, but as unreal as these posting may seem they are posted by fleshy and bony fingers attached to bodies all over the world and I actually like to get other peoples opinions and ideas.

And blab la bla I’m getting bored with My own typing here…… it’s almost 22:00 in Reykjavík Iceland, The “Airwaves Festival is at it’s peek” so I’m leaving you wonderful beasts and beauties for some nice Music and “live talk”

Just thought of pointing out that though I agree that this is unbelievably cruel act of “cat stomping”
I must say that I don’t see anything wrong with eating cats, People do eat different type of food in different countries and I for one try out the local food where I go…… and cats are absolutely delicious …………

Hi, Unbeliever. What’s new? Say, you look familiar…

Just curious, but where were you when you tasted cat?

Hi, you look familiar yourself…. I got it in a Chinese restaurant; I have spent some serious part of my life travelling."
I mean can you be anymore obvious?

unbeliever my ass.

Come on guys, you all know how management feels about “outing” socks on the board. E-mail your concerns to the mods. It works out better that way, whether you’re right or wrong.

Critical1, what exactly is that supposed to prove? Sorry, I just don’t see any dramatic proof there that The Unbeliever and Infidel are the same person. Because he ate some cat once? I don’t recall Infidel saying anything about eating cats, and I don’t recall Unbeliever ever forcing his religious opinions on people in wildly inappropriate ways.

Of course, Unbeliever did use four question marks in his thread title, which ought to be a bannable offence. But he reads Stephen Donaldson, so I guess it all balances out.

Dang. That explains the syntax!

So, how is bj0rn?

“Hi, Unbeliever. What’s new? Say, you look familiar…”
“Hi, you look familiar yourself…”
call me crazy, call me an ass, but that is a confidence slip. he thinks noone can put it together and in one of his first posts makes that little mistake? combined with the other evidence its pretty obvious, but hey I have been wrong before and will be again. I just dot think thats the case this time.

C’mon, man. Say he is a shiny little innocent newbie, and had no idea about the whole Infidel mess. How else is he supposed to react to a cryptic comment like that? I think you’re grasping at a pretty flimsy straw here.
