Welcome Syphilis... I mean SyFy

Ever listened to the few episode podcasts they did together, along with some of the others? Hiliarity ensues, pretty much. I haven’t liked the podcasts nearly as much since the actors stopped doing them.

I don’t much care for the new name/logo, but I don’t hate it with a flaming passion, either. I’ve been around long enough to remember the screaming and hate for the original name when the channel first started up. All the old-line fans were screaming about how awful the term ‘Sci-Fi’ was as opposed to the ‘more proper’ ‘SF’. So I have a hard time digging up any real hate for the latest name.

Not as good as Stargate or Eureka but quite watchable. Certainly far better than their movies.

I do miss the weird little transitions they did at commercial breaks.

I enjoyed the show. I found it very entertaining and it took me off guard a couple of times.

I still don’t quite get the whole “SyFy” thing. Was there a reason for the use of the “y”?

To copyright the term.

Wait, has the pronunciation changed?

I hope** The Twilight Zone **marathons continue which is my only reason for switching to that channel. Anyone know off the top of their heads when the Warehouse 13’s premier will be on again?

Yeah, that’s how I read it too. Isn’t a siffy something a 13-year-old boy is mortified to have when called up to the board to do math problems?

No, that’s dyscalculia.

“What the hell is this thing Mudler?”

Even Scully can’t take it. I turn on the channel and that’s what happens. I see the new logo. Oh, what did they do to the X-Files? It’s just all wrong now. Just wrong. Alternative reality, I don’t know…

It repeated right after, it’s on right now.

It wasn’t bad at all.

According to my DVR:

Thursday, 7/9, 12:00 a.m.
Friday, 7/10, 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, 7/12, 11:30 a.m.
Sunday, 7/12, 11:00 p.m.
Monday, 7/13, 2:00 p.m.

There are other showings, but they’re on sister channels (Sleuth, USA, Chiller, etc.). They’re shotgunning this to get the most out of it, I’d say.

It’s also on Hulu, if you’re in the U.S.

That makes absolutey no sense.

Well, A&E doesn’t really do Arts and Entertainment anymore. The History Channel is no longer about history. The Discovery Channel isn’t science anymore. Etc, etc.

By this announcement the SciFi channel will no longer be about sci-fi. In other words it is going to be just like all the former channels that HAD identity but now are indistiguishable from each other.

“Imagine Less”, “Imagine Marketing”, “Imagine Every Other Channel.”

I imagine a better slogan: “Hey, we’re not Lifetime, yet.”

MTV rarely plays music videos.

Jeremiah. Joanne Kelly played Libby, in the third season.

I think he means the fact that you find the female attractive but then you go on to say “please don’t suck” over and over again. If I have to explain the rest of the joke to you then it just lost all its funny.

Thank you, and thank you too KneadToKnow! I’ll probably watch it tonight on Hulu.

Not intentionally. The channel has not indicated that the pronunciation is to be different - they seem to think it should be the same. But many people are registering their disdain for the network’s naming choice by pronouncing it differently.

I’m annoyed. Because right after the changeover the DVR didn’t have Syfy channels programs loaded, I had to manually record using the timer. The movie before ran late, so I missed the last 5 minutes of the Warehouse 13 premiere. Now I have to rerecord it just to watch the ending.
