Warehouse 13 7/28/09 (Open Spoilers)

Hmmm…we don’t really seem to have critical mass to maintain weekly threads on this show. Does everybody else hate it, or what?

I kinda like it. It’s quirky, uneven in spots, but still kinda fun. Looks like they’re getting into at least a season arc now, with more details about Artie’s past coming to light, and a semi-cliffhanger ending this week.

Anybody else still watching?

Still watching, and still think the hacker will end up being Artie’s assistant.

It’s decent. It’s no Eureka, but I do like some of the humor. Agreed that it’s an uneven show, and pretty damn corny in spots. But I’m down unless it gets unbearably bad.

I’m watching. It is sorta corny at times. It’s a decent premise though, so I’ll stick with it with the hope that it gets better. Also not sure if I like any of the actors. I’m hoping they grow on me too.

Well…I guess it may be wise to not get too attached. Wikipedia says SyFy ordered the pilot and 9 episodes.

Still, I plan to enjoy it while it’s on.

Agree that the hacker girl is going to end up working for Artie in some capacity. Kinda wonder what the other “options” may be. Death? Brain Wipe?

Sadly, no football again this week. I miss the football.

I watched it last night for the first time. It didn’t do anything for me. No chemistry between any of the characters. Love the concept, won’t bother watching the show again.

I’m still watching. It’s been pretty good so far. I’d enjoy a weekly thread.

It’s not unusual for a new series to get such a low order. If they don’t order anymore, then it’s time to get worried. Still too early to tell, though.

I believe the director, Mrs. Frederick, meant for Artie to take Claudia out. But, I think he’s going to take her in and make her a part of the team instead. The whole show just reeked of ‘new character set-up’ to me.

I was hoping for the football again too. I’m curious to see where they’ll take that gag.

Probably lure a Bad Guy to stand in the right place at the right time.

Well, there’s also the quick bit at the end of the show showing Claudia in a pair of goggles in what looks like the Warehouse. So, yeah, she’s joining up.

SyFy is really sloppy with that kinda thing. They were constantly delivering major spoilers for the next BSG episode in the preview, with no warning. Did the same thing with that re-imagined Wizard of Oz thing they did, and now they’ve done it with this show. It really kills a cliffhanger when they do that. This week, it should have ended with “You know the options…”, and that’s it. No preview, or at least not a preview that gives away the result.

So just what is the security for Warehouse 13? The director seemed to think it was formidable, but it’s apparently a locked door, a Big Button, and being in the middle of Nowhere. Given the dangerous nature of the contents, you’d think they’d eschew security by obscurity.

For the most part I like it. I find it well writter and the actors are allowed to have fun with their parts. It’s sort of an “X Files” with a sense of humor. There is one thing I don’t like however. It seems to have the “A-Team Syndrome”. At least in the first shows. No matter how bad it gets, no matter how many nuns jump out of steeples, how man guns are drawn, how many explosions happen - no one dies.

Now don’t get me wrong. I am not blood thirsty, but if you are going to have violence, you’re going to have death. The producers seem to be avoiding it. Yes, I know, at its core it is a comedy/adventure, and traditionally comedy is not allowed to have death, but hey, even in the “Mary Tyler Moore Show,” Peanuts the Clown died.

I’m watching but mainly because there is nothing better on TV. I agree about the spoilers immediately after the episode since it was obvious that she was on the team in that shot.

I keep watching the show for lack of anything else hoping I’ll grow an attachment to it or something. So far nothing. This last episode was done out like the audience should care that Artie was kidnapped. The characters are so under developed its hard to imagine anyone watching would.

Maybe they will bring in those two new characters in and they will be interesting.

Yeah, that really bugged me, too. The nun’s first miraculous survival seemed to imply that the thing that caused her to channel her inner Sally Field was also responsible for giving her such a lucky landing. But then when it happened a second time- she fell onto a snowbank when there’s only about three inches of snow on the ground? No way.

I guess they figured a nun’s death wouldn’t go over well.

Well, the nun could fly - atleast for a short period of time - if only she’d learn to miss the ground, she’d have succeeded.

And four bombs inside the entrance, presumbaly intended to take out unwanted intruders.

I spent last week watching Torchwood: Children of the Earth. It was quite excellent but, after that, I felt I’d earned the right to watch a show in which nobody dies. Or has died, so far.

Warehouse 13 has an interesting premise & I love the Steam Punk/Thrilling Wonder Stories art direction. I like the characters well enough & wouldn’t mind seeing them develop a bit.

Good, light summer entertainment…
