The Grapist is nothing much, but I kinda miss the Hamburglar. I kept hoping he’d wander into GD, quote a post in its entirity, and write “The Hamburglar has burgled all the sense and meaning from this post!”. That would have been awesome, but alas he wasn’t clever enough.

I think it’s time we admitted that there was a certain kind of genius in the Grapist’s graping. I mean, he’s become a legend. I’m not sure why, but there was something oddly compelling and amusing about his acts of random graping. It is impossible to explain. Such is the way of the true genius.
Are you all simply intending to re-create the closed thread where almost all these puns have already appeared in the last wake for the Grapist? (see above posted link)

Could it be a different person? Every person who was here then, let alone every mod, remembers The Grapist, which is why I’m surprised the original Grapist would have been allowed back in.
If you visit an unmoderated MB, where Graping, totally uninformative thread titles, insults in debate fora, and threats of bodily harm are all tolerated without batting an eyelash, the first thing you say to yourself is, thank god we have moderators here! And the second thing you might realize is that if someone comes to the SDMB from a an MB like that, they may not be prepared for the culture shock. Could that have been the case with the original Grapist, and the reason why he’s being given a second chance?
Here’s my theory.
It’s not the original Grapist. It is, however, a long time member who found him/herself at a public computer (perhaps at a cybercafe while travelling) and decided to pull a relatively harmless prank. He or she never had any intention of posting anything after the one post.
So, any bets on how soon we’ll see our purple pal’s alter ego, A_Evil_Monkey_Lives_In_My_Head?
