Welcome to our newest member

You’re thinking of Analpram.

Two threads, one new user name, perfectly on topic for both…

In any event, welcome our newest newbie.

alphafuckin1.

Alas poor zederaa, we hardly knew ye. Good friggin’ riddance.

ETA: And in the time it took me to post this, he/she/it has been replaced by mavijeju. Who’s not banned *quite *yet.

That’s what future PMs get pushed around in.

mavijeju sleeps with the three-headed gophers.

Secondary treatment for two life threatening conditions; Lakolorazepam and Lortabpenia.

Geesh, mavijeju didn’t even get off a single broadside! It’s like coming out of hyperdrive and getting nailed upon translation! :stuck_out_tongue:

Ask your doctor if ninuxaxex is right for you.

Unfortunately he did get one post off. I really enjoy it when I can get them when they’re still in the process of registering.

You say hello, and we say goodbye!

Goodbye, Goodbye, I don’t know why you say hello we say Goodbye!

Good work Sir.; I salute you!

I think three-headed gopher would make a pretty good username. Or maybe a musical trio. The Three-headed Gophers: Bob on guitar, Sam on bass, and Joey bangin’ the skins.

In further news, the now-banned **relinelufo **is the latest corpse to join the Choir Eternal. He lasted less than 45 minutes.

Does sign-up have a bot-trap? How well do those (e.g., type the word in this distorted image) work?

They don’t work at all, when there’s an actual human decoding them. I’m sure that the spammers have their procedure at least partly automated, but it’s not entirely or even mostly.

And the latest go to Ban Heaven: relinelufo

Just a quick query to the mods: is this the usual traffic load for obvious spammers, or is it a heavy period right now? Just curious, until this thread was opened I never paid any attention to this.

relinelufo was the 30th spammer name banned today (since midnight), of which samclem got 19. That’s a little more than most days (which run 20-25) but not by much. There’s usually an uptick in sports streaming on the weekends.

First, much thanks for the reply.

Second, I had no idea it was that many. My thanks to the mod’s efforts on our behalf.

I checked and we have banned over 4,000 spammer names since November 20, 2016. So I guess the actual average is around 11-12 a day. A few streaming spammers are responsible for about 90% of it. The streaming spammers seem to increase in response to sporting events and sometimes movie or TV releases.

Any way to know if anyone here has ever clicked on one of their links?

Different related Q for our Mods:

Just now there’s a new newest user. With a name that might well be a real person rather than a spammer. He’s been registered for 30 whole minutes and has made no posts.

IIRC there’s no need to register to read. So the only reason to bother registering is because you intend specifically to post. And, I’d assume, to post soon. I know I’d lurked here for a couple weeks before I found a thread in my wheelhouse and suddenly I *had *to post! Right friggin now! At which point I had to register that very minute! Which hurry led directly to my boring uncreative username.

With that intro my question is how often you see users created and just sitting there with zero posts to their name for hours, days, or months? And of these registered non-posters, when they finally do break the seal and make their first post, are they usually real or usually socks / spammers / other insta-ban candidates?

Said another way, given the facts of this guy: real-ish name, recently registered, no posts yet, which way should I bet on his future?

Is there a way to find out how many that made it to “guest” status have 0 posts?
