I have an office job, but am in meetings about 80% of the day. Usually I have my computer with me and can do the banning. Sometimes i do it from my phone but it’s much more tedious. Whenever i get the post report i can usually do the banning while still in the meetings so it’s really first cpme.first served. I’m on west coast time so JC and Tom often take the early morning reports that Sam isn’t able to get to.

I have banned spammers while on the can multiple times.

Alas, poor xfhhjtrfxjtr! I knew him, Horatio, a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy. He hath borne me on his back a thousand times, and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is! My gorge rises at it.

"I served with xfhhjtrfxjt. I knew xfhhjtrfxjt. xfhhjtrfxjt was a friend of mine. Siam Sam, you’re no xfhhjtrfxjt.

That is insande. Since Ed says a big reason for the new theme is to make it easier for y’all to mod on your phones, maybe see if he can optimize that a bit. I would expect maybe two or thee clicks for banning (with one being a “are you sure” post) and then a list of checkmarks for why, including an Other for different situations.

Surely someone out there has something that optimizes banning spammers.

I’ve gotten to the point where I can ban someone while waiting at a stoplight. Woosh, purgatory.

<makes note of spammer names for use in sequel to Italo Calvino’s Cosmicomics>

Canned spam! I love it.

Be honest, guys: Have any of us ever mis-clicked and accidentally banned running coach?

Also of note: Any of us can ban spammers in any forum. Most of the spammers I’ve nabbed have been in GQ, when I’ve just happened to be reading it and noticed them, and when I get reports for spam in CS, usually by the time I get there some other mod has already taken care of them.

And yeah, it probably would be worthwhile for us to figure out how to automate the banning process a little more.

You don’t remember [whispering] what Marley did?[/whispering]

I must admit I have accidentally checked his posts as “Delete as spam” instead of “Delete spam report” by accident since his posts are so often next to the spammers. He’s always putting himself in the line of fire. But I’ve always caught myself in time.

Sometimes I’ve clicked in error on thread titles that aren’t capitalized properly or nonsensical so they look like spam titles, or on threads started by newbies with spammer type names. When spam is coming thick and heavy sometimes I get an itchy trigger finger. So please take care that your thread titles are entire sentences that make sense, and choose your username so it doesn’t sound like a new drug.

Huey Lewis will be in trouble if he ever signs up here.

Car 54, where are you?

Now that you mention it, I have found you kind of hard to take. Must be allergies.

FTR: I’m entirely joking, but that was too good a straight line to pass up. No personal insult is meant to be expressed nor implied. I hope.

Heh, “accidentally.”

Bangladesh.
