Hi everyone,
I am planning on having a welcoming ceremony in the spring, but until recently I have never heard of one.We would like to do this to name an honoray grandmother as well as make sure everyone in the family and our friends have met the little bambino. Since we aren’t religious and won’t baptise we figured this would be an awesome alternative…I am trying to look up info and ceremony samples on the net and Im not getting too much.If you had one what was it like? What special things did you include? Where was it held? My baby is due in November but I wanted to have like a BBQ/buffet type of party in my backyard…do you think spring would be too late to do it? I thought the symbolism of spring being a rebirth/new beginning would be nice. Also did people bring you gifts? I don’t want this to look like a gift grab, but I don’t think I’m having any kind of baby shower as most friends and family live far away so I don’t want anyone to feel obliged to bring something…
Ug! I’m not a great party planner so any help or ideas would be appreciated! Even if you didn’t have one or don’t have kids,I know you guys are full of great ideas!
It’s not a good book(at least compared to the author’s other works), but the grandmother in Back When We Were Grownups by Anne Tyler details the plans they made for a baby-welcoming ceremony for the youngest grandchild. If you can get past the dippy character names, it might give you some ideas.
I had one but I don’t remember it. I was too young.
Don’t know if this will help or not, especially since you said you’ve looked on your own, but I googled “baby welcoming ceremony” and got more than 2 dozen hits. Now I didn’t check them all out (just the first couple), but this is the URL result of my search.
Good luck to and yours and your upcoming new little one.
