No cite, but I believe many Fundamentalist Christians have a positive view of Jews. I was quite amazed when I first heard this, but I’ve seen it in a few instances (such as the above). I don’t know why this would be, but I’ve heard that it’s the common belief in the Pentateuch. Has anybody else witnessed this? (No pun intended, heh).
Actually, I’m anxiously awaiting the sure-to-be next installment of the Chick Malarkey…er, Chick Tracts now that the Roman Catholic Church has declared that those of the Jewish Faith are already saved and need not accept Christ.
Last time I tried to post, it wouldn’t take so I’ll try again. No one is going to burn for not reading Chick tracts. If anyone burns, it’ll be because they never accepted Jesus as their Saviour believing He died for their sins. John 3:36~~He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Of course, if you don’t believe the Bible is God’s word, this will mean nothing to you. I do happen to believe it’s God’s word. It’s storming here, I have to go.
aw c’mon, I for one, miss ARG.
I have one question for His4ever…
In the tract “It’s Coming”, about Noah and the Flood, it’s written that the Ark measured 137 meters by 23 meters by 13 meters. This comes out to about 41,000 cubic meters of volume. However, later in the tract, it says, “It was big enough to haul 50,000 animals with room to spare.” However, this comes out to be less than .82 cubic meters of space per animal… that includes space for the animal itself, its food and water, and any waste material it may have.
How, pray tell, does that work, given that it’s physically impossible to do what Mr. Chick described in his tract?
baby animals
And the fish. Creationists never like to talk about the aquariums that would be required for all the freshwater fish, not to mention how they got from South America to the Middle East to board the ark in the first place.
—he that believeth not the Son shall not see life—
Interesting: does this mean that it is not possible that anyone who believeth “not the Son” is alive, in the normal sense?
But anyway: I don’t believe “not the Son”: I just don’t believe in the Son. Pearly gates and everlasting life for me!
Actually, you’d need aquariums for both the freshwater fist and the saltwater fish, if they were to survive the Noachian Flood.
I mean, if there was enough rainwater to cover all the land of the Earth, including the peak of Mount Everest – that much water would have severely diluted the oceans, to the point that creatures adapted to its current salinity couldn’t survive.
Yes, and I read a great article that explained this in detail, but I can’t find it. Basically, in order for the rapture to occur, fundamentalist Christians believe that the Jews must be in control of Jerusalem and must rebuild the temple (a mosque currently sits on the old temple site). So, they tend to be pro-Zionist.
Is there any reason why the Elizabethan version of the Bible is necessary for quotations? “Whosoever believeth” is a little alienating, really. If I read a plain English Bible, is that wrong?
I recall Chick having a tract on the King James Bible being THE Bible, period. I’d still feel more comfortable if I were reading Christ’s words in the original Aramaic. (I do remember Kurt Vonnegut giving the KJ Bible credit for being the most poetic, anyway.)
I know I’ve read or heard somewhere that Christ most likely taught/spoke in Greek… as at least one of the disciples probably didn’t speak Aramaic & whenever he does use Aramaic, the translation of the word comes right after.
(I’ll see if I can find a cite)
You recall correctly. It’s called The Attack, and can be viewed right here:

Basically, Chick’s argument is that the KJV is the only English translation based on the true original Old and New Testament manuscripts, and that all other English translations are based wholly or in part on the evil Satan-influenced Alexandrian manuscripts. How he came to believe that the Alexandrian manuscripts were “tainted” is anybody’s guess.
Why does one have to accept the entire theology of Jack Chick to find some of his tracts useful tools for evangelism? No fundamentalist would try and claim that any human body of writing is without error - only the Bible (which of course is written by God ;)). Just because he publishes a lot of crazy stuff doesn’t mean that everythinghe says is a lie…
Does it?
Grim
I too collect Chick tracts as well as Tijuahana bibles. For some reason they both seem to go well with one another. My latest tract is a rip-off of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The artwork seems to have improved over the past few years.
Hey, fellow collectors, any suggestions on storage for these little gems of fecund wisdom? They don’t quite fit in card trading jackets (like Poekemon collecting books or Magic The Gathering collecting books). What works for you all?
I don’t agree with anything I have yet read in one of these little things, but they do give me something to do as bus stops when I forgot to bring a magazine, and they are more fun to read that the Turner Diaries.
Well, he makes a lot of claims about the “evil people” that are utterly false, so… yeah. He’s a liar. And you know what God says about liars and “those that twist the word of God”.
Most of 'em were birds, and Noah kept kicking the cages so half of 'em would be flying at any given moment.
That also kept the Ark from being too heavy.
Sorry, I have to agree with him on catholicism. I can’t agree with their teachings. All we need to be saved is to accept Jesus’ sacrifice for us. They have all kinds of beliefs and traditions that I don’t see validated by scripture such as purgatory, worship of Mary, confessing sins to a priest, believing you must be subject to the pope to be saved, etc. The Bible doesn’t teach that we must spend time in a purgatory to be purged of sins. Jesus has already purged me of all my sins. His shed blood took care of it all. When I die I will go straight to be with Him because I’ve trusted Him and His shed blood. Teaching there’s a purgatory is like saying what Jesus did wasn’t enough. Somehow it always seems like some people want to take some kind of credit for getting themselves into heaven, such as suffering in purgatory. It doesn’t exist. There is heaven and hell, no purgatory. I’m not good at debating these things, I’m afraid. Someone else could do a lot better job! Gotta go.
Sorry, I can’t tell you how it all worked out, I wasn’t there. What I can say is that God says it happened, therefore I believe it. I’m sure there was plenty of space for what God intended. He told him exactly how to build it and brought the animals to Noah. I’m sure God, being the Creator of the universe, knew what was needed.
Curious…how do you expect to get into the “pearly gates” when Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me? John 14:6 I’m afraid if you think you’ll go there any other way than through the cross of Christ, you’re being deceived. Sorry.
