You’re doing far more harm than good for the name of good Christians everywhere. Really. You’re digging yourself in way too deep.
See, that’s the thing about this message board - if you say something, people respond to it. Particularly in a place called “Great Debates.” Fancy that.
OK, then why can’t same-sex couples get married? Nice Catch-22 - sex outside of marriage is a sin, but don’t let us get married. Which is it?

I don’t know. Chick is a seductive image of Christianity for many atheists. He is precisely what we want Christians to look like. Everyone likes to feel validated in their beliefs.
I don’t think we need to get into a long, involved discussion of Scriptural interpretation here, but I’ve got two questions for our friend His4Ever:
To what extent is the Law of Moses applicable to one’s Christian life?
What commandments are those which any Christian is obligated to follow?
It is due to my answer to them, and my reading into the vocabularies underlying the Torah and Paul’s letters, that I feel it incumbent on me to urge upon you that you examine carefully the reactions of people to your witnessing, particularly as regards “the sin of homosexuality” and prayerfully contemplate what would speak to these people of the Good News.
I may not agree with His4ever but I don’t think it is right for others to tell her to cease posting because they disagree with her oppinion.
She has been straightforward and not rude. Her opinions may be ill informed or incorrect but lets face it she has the right to say them so long as it doesn’t turn into hate mongering.
I’m sure there is no real maliciousness behind her words merely ignorence. I had a christin friend who was one of the nicest folks you’ll ever meet but he was also a heavy duty fundientalist too. He never spoke out of hate, just only what he was taught was the truth.
It would only be a cathc 22 if they didn’t think homosexuality wasn’t a sin. You are rooked in their eyes from the get go.
It would be a true catch 22 if they said you are allowed to engage in homosexual sex if you get mearried byut homosexuals can not get married.
Sorry a bit nitpicky but I’m a huge fan of that Book.
Unless and until you see the words “Administrator” or “Moderator” replace the word “Member” under my name, I have neither the power nor the authority to prevent someone from posting; it was merely a suggestion that his was doing more harm than good in the name of Christianity. And, in case you missed it, IMHO, which was in my original post, means “in my humble opinion.”
That wasn’t what his said (although I know you are correct) - she said homosexual sex was considered sex outside of marriage, i.e. fornication. That’s why I said it in the first place. (Not that it doesn’t accurately reflect my feelings, but I said it specifically because it was pertinent to what was said.)
I’m curious, how do you feel about such non-Christian religions such as Judaism and Islam? The reason I mention these specifically is that they have been the subject of Chick tracts. Do you agree with Chick on these.
I intend to say no more about homosexuality. I’ve been posting quite a bit on that subject under the section about the Methodist Church and I told them the same thing. I was asked my opinion, I gave it. We will have to agree to disagree because I will never change my mind on this issue. We’re just going round and round on it so there’s no point in continuing. You all can discuss it among yourselves and I’ll listen. If you want to call me names as some of the others have, go ahead. My position on this issue remains the same. Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:16, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.
I’m afraid I have to say yes, I do agree with him on these. Muslims need Christ, and so do the Jews. Have you ever heard of Jews for Jesus? Many Jews have recognized that Jesus is the Messiah and have accepted Him. And I was watching on tv just the other night about a muslim man realizing there was someting wrong with Islam and he two has accepted Christ as his Saviour. Praise the Lord for that!
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. ( read verses 10-11 if you don’t know who this is talking about)
I’m afraid the questions are coming hot and heavy and I have to admit I feel ill equipped to answer them all. As far as the law of Moses, do you mean the 10 commandments? If you do, I don’t think adultery is okay now, or stealing, or murder, etc. So I think those are still valid and those who’ve accepted Christ generally desire to please Him and wouldn’t want to do these things. However, I don’t think we have to mess with washing cups and pots certain ways and preparing food certain ways now. It’s hard for me to find the right words to explain. Those who are in Christ are under grace now, not the law but yet it still matters how we live. We shouldn’t be committing adultery, killing, stealing, coveting. I think these things are still valid. Let me clarify that doing good works and living a righteous life aren’t the means of getting saved, but the result of being saved. Salvation is in Christ alone. Good works should follow. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast. I know my views are very unpopular here and that I can’t answer everyone’s questions to their satisfaction but my intention in coming to this board was to share the Lord’s truth that’s all. I know not everyone will agree.
I figure that you might find this interesting. Chick’s tract is based on the work of a fellow by the name of Robert Morey. The above sites are a refutation of Morey’s work.
According to the above mentioned website, Allah has no connection to the moon god that was worshipped in Arabia pre-Islam.
Do you still believe that Chick is telling the truth?
How do you know that Muslims need Christ? What if a Muslim was to come up to you and state that Muhammed is the true prophet?
Then why do you insist on quoting those Leviticus prohibitions on gay sex? You’ve said that reals Christians shouldn’t desire to lie, cheat and steal. Do you understand that Jesus said “love God, love your neighbor” is the fulfillment of the law, but that judging others would bring judgement on yourself? This sentiment is repeated by Paul and the author of James.
Jews For Jesus was started by a Southern Baptist who changed his name to Moishe. They are highly active in my neighborhood. This is because of the many Refusniks(Jewish immigrants from the former Soviet Union). Refusniks have extremely little knowledge of Judaism. J4J offers to teach them Judaism. Then they feed them distortions and outright lies.
Re Leviticus
I thought Jesus invalidated this. If you don’t feel the need to keep Kosher or ban tattoos, why follow what Leviticus says about homosexuality?
Re Homosexuality- Correct me if I’m wrong, but Jesus never speaks out against homosexuality. An apostle or two condemns it. Jesus says nothing on the subject.
