You would need to move to city X within one month. We’ll give you +X% salary and $Y relocation funds. This would be an excellent (hint, hint) career move. Oh, and by the way, we need an answer within 24 hours. No penalty if you say no. Let us know.”

I know how these owners work. If they make you an offer and you say no - well, they won’t fire you, but you won’t get an offer again, at least any time soon.

…and the compensation - well, not bad. The relocation amount is pretty disappointing, but the only way in this company to get paid is to be willing to jump like this. The salary bump seemed ok.

…holy jeez, I said “Yes.” I’ve signed the papers. I’ve got to get moved within a month. I’m terrified, but excited as well. Another jump to a city where I know nobody and nothing. But it was time for a change. Wish me luck!
KC is a great city. (Not as great as my home, St. Louis, mind you, but great nonetheless). Lots to do there. Coincidentally, I might be moving there later this year myself. I thought I was going to be moving there a few years ago, but it fell through. This time seems like the real thing. So, we might be neighbors this summer.
Congrats, sounds exciting. Assume you had nothing to tie you down in the current location. And this is a permanent relocation?

The only place that might (might, mind you) have better BBQ than KC is Texas.
And while our airport certainly sucks for connecting flights, it is a joy for originating/terminating here. And I don’t think there are many flights that connect through here anymore in any case.
