Like I said, I finished the game last night. (warning unboxed spoilers ahead)
All in all, as a game it was as much fun to play as the origional, though a tad more glitchy (especially in larger battles). The storyline was good until the end. The ending was a bit unsatisfying, and even a bit contrived. You are TOLD what you characters final choice is, and at least one major plot point is left unresolved.
Good things:
Being able to switch two different weapons set-ups.
Convincing some of your companions to the Jedi way, watching them progress.
Being able to create upgrades and other items at workbenches. The upgrades, and the variety of each are quite nice, by the end of the game you have a lightsaber that you really feel is “yours”.
The way you find out what will happen to most of your friends.
Bad things:
Glitchy. The game would often skip, sometime in battle I would start runnig twords an opponent, it would skip, and suddenly I was on the other side of the room.
The plot. The big secret in KOTOR I was cool, and well done. I actually didn’t see it coming. The reveals here are either really telegraphed, or just lame. The whole “you are a void in the force, even though your powers work normally, so after this is over, you cop out and run away again” thing was poorly contrived. Honestly, since the Jedi have been all but wiped out, and your character has proven that he can train and lead Jedi, wouldn’t he want to stick arround and help rebuild the order rather that run off with his lightsaber between his legs. Especially since the Jedi Councel seem to be such utter buttheads.
And what the frell happened with Bao-Dur's droid and GO-TO. The last time we see them they are in a stand-off, but when the Exile runs from the planet, it is exploding, but you don't know if it is the droids diong or not. it simply isn't resolved.
Also, would it have been so hard that once the Handmaiden reveals her name, for the game to start refering to her by that name. She says in game “I am the last of the handmaidens no more, my name is Brianna” shouldn’t the game (stat display, in-game text references) start calling her Brianna from that point?
Before someone come on and says "what did you expect from the plot of a game". The answer is; after the first one better than this, after the first one, better for the characther that I had followed through the plot, and a better ending for my character this time.
So, did anyone else finish playing yet?
