I won’t even attempt to link stuff, you’ve seen it all. I understand you hate certain political parties. I understand you hate some religions. I get it. Also, I know the Pit is where people go to rant and rave. Fine. I’d rather this forum than someone expressing rage in a mall with a gun. (Just don’t try that shit at my house, I am armed heavily.)
I’m a conservative Catholic. Big surprise, huh?
For every site you link bashing my view I can find 2 that refutes you. For every 2 you site, I can find 4. This is never ending pablum that allows those with weak arguments (more likely weak minds) to try to keep thier little world make sense. Yes, this applies to the conservative among us, too.
So. I hearby Pit everyone that abandons the basic moors they claim to live by through finding obscure websites to quote, instead of trying to convince us you’re right. AFAIK, I’ve never bashed Clinton while arguing a point where I thought he was wrong. And I, for one, don’t give any credence to those who say “Fuck Bush, never did anything good.” Grow up and tell us how you’d do it better.
My moors only show up around the beginning of December, when “Sinterklaas” visits the Netherlands. They’re called “Zwarte Pieten”, but they are moors nonetheless. And they wear those cool moorish pants.
Oh, and duffer? This:
For every 2 you site, I can find 4.
should be cite and not site. Site is not now, and never will be a verb.
No, I’m referring to the cites I’ve seen to places like Moveon.org that are never challenged, but mention NewsMax.com and you get flamed. The point of the OP was, I can find a site to match an opposing viewpoint site easily. I just hate the lack of an argument being replaced by an obscure website that tries to make the argument.
What the hell are you talking about? This isn’t a grammar-nazi point, this is an important rhetorical point:
DON’T USE THE PASSIVE VOICE HERE.
Because cites aren’t challenged by the impersonal void of cyberspace: they’re challenged by (hopefully informed) forum members. Don’t like cites to moveon.org? Challenge them your own damn self!
The whole point behind cites is to force people to back up their factual statements. This prevents me from posting that, say, the Catholic church has been responsible for more prenatal than abortion doctors have ever been, and getting away with it. Were that true, it’d certainly cast a pall over the church’s opposition to abortion; fortunately, ou can holler, “cite?” and force me to back down from the ridiculous assertion.
The constant demand for cites is one of my favorite things about this message board. It keeps people honest.
