Well, it's June; what's bugging you?

And, of course, everything on the web must be provided free.

I’m pretty sure that no one here claims or even thinks that, but when a site uses more bandwidth serving up ads than content there’s a definite and definable problem. Bandwidth that I’m paying for.

And serving up malware, and causing someone’s computer to randomly start blasting sound (problem if other household members are trying to sleep, or the user has the nerve to want to listen to music rather than ads), or covering the content with obnoxiousness…

No one has ever been interested in my Facebook page. Not even once.

Of course, I keep everything to a group of small friends, and post literally nothing to “public”.

You’re stupid and don’t deserve any laundry juice no matter how hard you worked squeezing the damn dirty drawers. Also, stop smoking K2.

I’ve never posted anything publicly, but FB automatically makes your profile picture as well as your cover photo public. If you change either/both they’ll make that public too.

The only things I’ll post to my general feed – which includes both coworkers and family – are videos, recipes, and anything banal enough for a general audience. My filters, which I delineate between good friends and longtime online friends, get whatever dirt I post

I NEVER post anything about work. If we mention our employer anywhere on social media, their social media department will start following us. NO THANK YOU.

Exactly! I have no problem with a few well-chosen (and well placed) ads, but when the site has so many ads of so many different types that the browser on a new computer grinds to a halt, I also have no problem encouraging the use of ad and script blockers. My local news channel, WRAL, is an example of a legitimate news site that is guilty of this.

Kraft has gotten so cheap that they eliminated the instructions in the package of Sure Jell. Instead you’re supposed to go to their crappy website and dig up the recipe you want. Screw them, I’ll find a different brand.

Oh, minor FB thing;

If someone you haven’t seen in a while suddenly appears in your ‘people you may know’ list, even though they are not friends of your friends…

That is because they looked you up and looked at your page.

Remember this works both ways. If you go looking for people in your past, you’re going to appear on their page too. So don’t go looking for people you don’t want to contact.

My sister unfriended me a year or two ago, along with our brother and his son. We said some funny stuff that offended her, we assumed. I was happy with being unfriended, since all of her posts are “glurgey”, which I can’t stand.

So, yesterday I get a friend request from her, as did my brother. Thing is, I was happy with the status quo. Not accepting.

Did your brother accept? It’d be nice if glurgey sis heard nothing (and might forget about it) rather than one sibling communicating *“I’ll *be your BFF, not sure about that kayakadoodle…”)

For the sake of familial civility, would you consider accepting her request and not following her?

So here’s the sitch for me, I slowly became aware that a “friend” of mine had unfollowed me. This was because this friend had been FB friends with me for years and during those years, patterns of responding to posts emerged. Welll lately, for probably close to a year, I haven’t had him post to or ‘like’ anything I’ve put on my FB. My sis is also fb friends with this person and one day her fb was open at my parents house. Guess who was liking her stuff? I found myself surprisingly annoyed at this revelation. I think I post funny, relevant things! You don’t want to be disturbed by my noise? Then have the courage of your convinctions and just UNfriend me. Here, I’ll show you how it’s done…

Annnd, that’s why I’m not on “social” media.

But this, too, could all be yours!

… Where are you going?

So far, June can get stuffed. It started so very well, I got a new job, my dream job as an integration aide assisting children with special needs in the classroom. My first day was incredible! It’s casual relief so I log onto the system and get a call in the morning to tell me what school I am working at for the day.

Well, the second day I woke up with a cough and diarrhoea so decided that I would have a day or two off. No change in symptoms on day 3, so off to the doctor. Get X-ray of chest and do a faecal test. Another couple of days off. Return to doctor for test results, diarrhoea had cleared up and X-ray showed no pneumonia but I still felt rotten, headaches and body aches. So blood test taken to check for anything atypical.

After 13 days off, I felt ok so went to work again. Felt like shit halfway through the day but pushed through.

Went to doctor after work, blood test results show I have glandular fever (mono). Fark! Now I have at least 3 weeks off work due to school holidays, so I’m achey and tired but not tired enough to sleep all day and have to stay home for 3 weeks, no money, no energy but insomnia is at is peak so no friggin sleep either.

Also, got oral thrush during the week too.

Yes. He’s a fucking wimp when it comes to family stuff. Fuck him.

Nope, not going to happen. Not the way I handle stuff like this. I’ve been totally civil. The unfriending has never been mentioned. When my sister has needed help with anything, she’s asked and I’ve been there for her.

June sucks! So far, I found out one cat has a cancerous tumor under his chin. He is stable and otherwise healthy, it looks like the cancer hasn’t spread and he’s been put on hold for now. Because, another cat has had severe eating issues for the last few weeks and our vet thinks she needs a root canal. (Yes, there are cat dentists - who knew?). I had an appointment for her tomorrow all the way across town but just had to cancel.

Because, a week ago Sunday I was in an accident. The other driver’s fault and I can still drive my car. I finally talked to the adjuster today and will meet with him tomorrow afternoon. But tonight I stopped to buy gas (long drive tomorrow) and the fuel tank door won’t open! Both driver’s side doors are damaged so I’m guessing something between the release and the fuel door is broken.

I’ve been trying to be positive about all this but this was the last straw. I burst into tears right there. I calmed down later and I’ve been trying to manipulate the fuel door (after watching some youtube videos) but no luck. I’ll stop by to see my mechanic in the morning and hopefully he will be able to help. Shit, June sucks.

When am I gonna finish this fuc**** work holy heck

So far in June, in addition to my 91-year-old friend in California who has pneumonia, two of my friends have died (one expected and the other very much unexpected), one friend discovered a recurrence of her breast cancer, and the 21-year-old son of our neighbors has a “large tumor” in his chest and is seeing the oncologist today. Enough already. Is it July yet?
