Well, this has been quite the Mother's Day for me and my family...

First of all, 3 days ago, right before I was going to embark on a trip to see her and her family, my birth mother’s mother (who is 99 y/o) goes into the hospital with congestive heart failure. My birth mother has to fly across the country to another state, and I thus had to cancel my trip (which also got FUBARed on my end, but that’s another story, which you can find in the Pit if you like).

Then my sister’s (adoptive) mother-in-law (80 or so IIRC) goes into the hospital, having basically starved herself to death for a month. Sis described her as “wasting away”.

And THEN, to top it all off, MY mom (about to turn 79) starts having severe vomiting and dizzy spells. I go over this morning, and she is too weak and dizzy to get out of bed; she and I had lunch on Friday, where she ate a softshell crab, which made her assume that she contracted food poisoning. Nope-she instead got diagnosed at the hospital (which I had to almost literally drag her to-she’s very stubborn and independent) with a stroke in her cerebellum (via an MRI).

Well, birth grandmom actually seems to be improving, tho we shall see, given her age; prognosis for sis’ MiL remains pretty grim however; my mom will probably be okay, having passed a series of coordination tests her doc had her do with flying colors. But sheesh, what a Mother’s Day…

Yikes! That sucks. I hope everyone and everything will be all right.

I hope everything resolves itself happily, and I hope Father’s Day is less stressful for you and your family.

While I’ve considered today to be slightly craptastic as a mother, this certainly puts my lack of recognition In perspective.

Good wishes for you and yours.

All 3 women in question are widows, tho the men currently in their lives (plus the SO’s of my sisters) are all in good health.

Thanks for your concern guys.
