Well this truely sucks

Long story short, I’m in the hospital with issues with my pancreas, and it looks like my gall bladder will have to come out.
Got sick on Tuesday, went to primary care Dr. on Wed. Got misdiagnosed, (thanks doc!) went to urgent care Wed evening spent three hours there in agony, got shipped by ambulance to my local hospital where I spent several hours in their ER, got to a room about 3AM.
Spent 40 minutes in an MRI tube yesterday, two hours on a nuclear medicine table and I spent lots of time bored in bed.
Got my laptop last night and found the IP address for the hospital’s WiFi is on the dopes banned list. (Thanks Tuba, chocolate will be on the way when I get out of here)
Bottom line? No food, no drink, IV fluids only (I think the current bottle is steak and lobster)
Gall bladder may come out tomorrow, or Sat. Got to wait, as the one doctor put it, till the pancreas is no longer angry.
For sure this much fun should be illegal.

Hang in there, dude.

Best of luck, Rick.

Thanks guys.

If the gall bladder is coming out tomorrow, ask for a bottle of drawn butter to go with the bottle of lobster since it may be the last time you can enjoy it.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for you.

Hope it’s just the gallbladder, Rick. Doctors are old hands at yanking those.

Dude! I’m sorry you’re going through this, but, better now than later. Pancreatitis is no picnic and gall stones can lead to liver failure.
Glad you found someone who could give you a good diagnosis.

In my case it’s made absolutely no difference. I eat exactly the same unhealthy foods since I had my gallbladder removed as I was eating before and have no problems (or at least no new problems).

Get well soon!

Could be worse. My problems started the same way. I won’t tell you where they ended up…

Tell the doc that whenever *you *yank a part, you offer an ample parts and service warranty - and you expect no different from him!

Get well!

What, you’re going to use your actual first hand experience to try to counter my vague recollection of my Mom saying she couldn’t eat butter anymore 40 years ago after she had her gall bladder removed.

I like the way you think!

Sorry to hear. Landing in a hospital, awaiting some treatment/diagnosis is such a brutal experience in so many ways. I feel for you.

So glad you got your computer and found your way to here! Well done indeed!

Hoping you feel better soon. That they get it figured and do what they gotta. And that you sail through without delay or difficulty!

(Do keep us updated, please. We’ll worry you know!)

You DO realize that hundreds, if not thousands of automobile owners are doomed while you’re out of commission. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ha! My thoughts EXACTLY!!

Come back soon Rick. We need you, for real.

Holy crap! You misspelled “truly”.

Seriously, I hope it all goes well.

You have that backwards! Drawn butter tonight will kill him (or make him wish he was dead because the bile his liver pumps out will get backed up in his clogged gall bladder, causing terrible pain. Once the bottleneck is gone it should be clear sailing. Sure, he’ll need to know where the nearest toilet is for some time afterwards but while squirting out a liver full of bile along with recognizable food I ate a half hour before is gross, it was far less uncomfortable than a gall bladder attack. Just remember that about the bathroom. He may not want to go anywhere until the attack is over.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Rick
