Glad to hear it. I assume it was the laparoscopic type of operation, if you’re up and about this quickly?
Yeah 4 little holes belly button, diaphragm, and two to the right.
Uggggg…can I get in on this?
So, I’m having some pain in my midsection, right where my sternum ends. It’s a dull achy kind of thing, and it’s not the first time. I suppose I had some easily dismissed pains there before. Then, on the Fourth of July, I drank a shit ton of booze on a relatively empty stomach, which must have tipped something over. I wasn’t right for weeks, and I had this recurring achy pain there.
It went away after about a month, but now it’s back.
Gross TMI big time follows…
I had a Meatball Sub from Subway two weeks ago, and my guts were all messed up. Again, I’ve never had what you call a regular gastrointestinal system - lots of gas, loose stools, etc., along with sudden, urgent need of a toilet about a half hour after eating something super greasy. A few explosions, lots of intestinal glurring noises, and then whatever. Again, not unusual for me. But this was worse, and I knew something was up. Not a lot of gas, and funny stomach feelings. And then (grossest part coming) I had a “regular” explosive session - but it smelled foul. Like, wrong and bad and horrible. Then things seemed to even out for the next couple of days, but now I have my sternum ache again.
So, I’m betting its my gallbladder. I suppose I should see a doctor, but it makes me nervous. I’m super scared of going under, and I hate taking meds. But wouldn’t it be great if my heartburn and loose stools and everything else went away?
I should see a doc, right?
Satyrn76, I have IBS, with apparently no gall bladder problems, and have had symptoms like yours. Yes, see a doctor, and try to do it when you’re having an “episode” so they can tell if your gall bladder is pissed off. But don’t panic: sometimes, ahem, shit just happens. Do talk to someone about it, but don’t make yourself crazy with worry.
sateryn, yeah, see a doctor. When my gall bladder was acting up, my problem was just the opposite – constipation. Doc did a chest/abdomen x-ray, and that whole area was nothing but puffy globs that looked like little clouds. I’m thinking “Tumah! I’m full of cancer!” But nope. I was full of shit.
Sateryn in my case the pain was right at my diaphragm and severe. The first three attacks were hours after I ate and did not go away until I threw up.
The last attack (when I went to urgent care was from drinking water. The water got absorbed, the pain was still there, but I had nothing to throw up.
Took morphine to overcome the pain.
See the doc.
Since the operation I feel great, I’ve lost 25lbs and life is good.
Congrats on your recovery, Rick.
Tomorrow I go in for imaging to see how pissed off my gallbladder is at me.
To make things even spiffier, both sets of underarm lymph glands are swollen slightly and pinchy when the armscye of my bra rubs the area. [under the right and left arm pits]
Looking at the paperwork the hospital sent, they are basically going to light up my entire torso to see what smokes. At least mrAru has the day off and will be coming with me, he can sherpa my wheelchair for me
I had my first-ever gallbladder attack Monday night-Tuesday morning. I thought I had a spear through my guts.
ER doc said that because I’m also diabetic, my GB needs to go sooner than later. Advice taken, but you betcha I’m getting more opinions first.
Good luck to all of you with medical procedures in your future. My gallbladder has attacked me somewhat severely twice but we are in watch-and-wait mode at the moment. However, since Rick has assured me I can lose that last 15 pounds if I have surgery :), maybe I’ll stop waiting and ACT. Hmm.
Glad things went so well for you, Rick.
