Delivery is supposed to be in two weeks. The issue is that the Model Y does not currently get the $7500 tax benefit now but may qualify for it after January 1, 2023. I wonder if there is anyway to not buy it until then but the way Tesla does business (loan already approved) I don’t think we can.
Wall charger going up today. I am utterly shocked how many people on youTube don’t care if they burn their Tesla/garage/house to the ground. They spend $60k on the car, $400 on the wall charger then cheap out using 6 gauge wire that’s “good enough” and theoretically should work fine. First of all, not up to code so good luck when selling your house. Second, we all know the amperage on a line never fluctuates due to temperature, lightning, neighbor next door playing with magnets, etc.
I think when I received mine you had up to 10 days to take delivery once it was ready. I don’t know what the current policy is but I’m guessing they will really push you to accept it before the end of the quarter.
Good luck! Despite all of the horror stories I’ve seen online, my M3P was and has been perfect. No squeaks, no rattles, no misaligned panels (as far as I can tell), absolutely nothing wrong* and have had 0 service calls in a little over a year of ownership.
*One issue though, and I feel like I’m crying over the cracks in the seat leather on my private jet, but the driver seat doesn’t always return to it’s saved position when I get in. It’ll be close but different enough to be noticeable.
I have the same problem. It’s only the incline of the back, though. It seems to go in streaks. It will be fine for a few weeks, it will be too reclined for a few days, and then it’s fine again.
Too bad about the bank delaying the loan the loan; they admit it was their fault. Really sorry you won’t be able to get down to the delivery center next week, I know how excited you are, but I also know this is your busy time at work, and they have you going until after 8 every night and Saturdays! Can’t really pick it up when your out of town for Christmas. Any chance there are delivery appointments on the 2nd?
Got the call today that it is on its way. Mrs Cad talked to them and apparently you can delay receiving once for up to two months without cancelling so she has to get it before mid-February soooooooo … she’ll be eligible for the Federal $7500 tax credit.
Can you use the entire tax credit? Wife and I are close each year with my required minimum withdrawal from my IRA letting us use the full $7500 credit.
How much is delayed gratification (new car in Jan) worth to you?
Maybe wait until the end of the month to see if Tesla sweetens the pot even more?
She’s investigating if they will apply the refund to the down payment. The salesman swore up and down there was no down payment (not in writing) and we were just told there is a $4500 deposit. So sorry you got incorrect information.
Picking it up Friday.
And of course Tesla requires a cashiers check for the down payment - no cards allowed. And they say because of taxes and registration fees, the final down payment may change. We’ll let you know the final down payment amount when you pick it up.
Picked it up Friday night. I test drove it a little but now that we’ve used it for a weekend, it is a badass car. Oh and since you can name it in its software, think of a badass animal that is silent and flies (down the road). That’s right, the Tesla is now, “The Owl”
