Duck Duck!
-
I begun to Google. The reason was that I promised in a thread to make a thread etc. So I Googled till I goggled!.
See how positive Your work affects mine?
-
So I begun to Google. I got so much information that I got a full-time-work of this gooooogling + over-time!
-
You told me and others how to Google. Now, please, tell me how to stop?
How to sort everything out?
-
I have to stop somewhere, come to some conclusion. And post it. If it is wrong, I am not that stubborn that I fight facts, but if I wait until I get to the “final truth”, I can’t ever post again. A lifetime will not be enough.
So here is where You and the others come in. Welcome!
I have come to the following conclusions:
-
The one (or two)-line posters are a nuisance. You can find one in this thread also. Completely out of line, if our task is to fight ignorance.
-
“We” post too lightly, without really go through what “we” are posting. We should Google more.
Even if we have very good knowledge of the subject, there is always more facts or “anti-facts” like propaganda, lies etc. found. Why not to unveil the lies as well, when it is necessary or there is a need to do so.? The lies that are swimming around in
e Net.
And from these resources we get, make a statement that relays on these facts we have/ we have found. (With “we” I mean whoever is posting, members in common).
- As You said, the Net has changed a lot within just 2 years.
It will radically change when it gets much more global as it is now. Maybe 2 - 4 years more?
It is global alright, but when people begins to post in English-spoken threads more and more, from let’s say: China, Iran, Finland, Tunisia etc.
How the written and non-written rules are affecting SDMB and the posters in common is very important.
How do we want to look like?
Something to look up to, or just slime-bags that put out in two minutes whatever is popping from our subjective brains?
As I see the future we are not only fighting ignorance, we are also making the world smaller in the sense that someone in just few minutes can replay to Your post, or mine, from the other side of the world.
So we should also “fight” for mutual understanding.
We can have 180 degree difference in opinions when a thread begins, and come to a mutual ‘almost understanding’, let’s say 78 degree in common.
How to do that? Only by very specific, truthful information!
I do know that everything that comes from Google is not the truth. far from it. Many times quite the opposite, but by cross-checking and other members cross-checking our cross-checked information, we will come somewhere.
The two-line-posters does not add anything to the OP, but we have to live with that.
I am maybe not the right person to say this all, I have erred.
But I learn, even if not so fast on every frontier, but I learn.
SDMB has taught me a lot. I understand some things better now, but that does not mean that I do not see big holes in other places. I mean ignorance.
And I think we all see. Obviously we have some hundred years of work ahead;), but so what. We should not give up.
Our work is to fight ignorance and help us all to understand each other better.
I think like this, anyhow.
Summa Summarum:
Let’s keep on rolling!Duck Duck!
