Well...

I would. Really, I would.

But as I have multiple sclerosis, I am no longer that flexible.

In fact, I have not been up my own ass in years. I have even forgotten what it is lifed. Perhaps with yoga there is a chance.

Perhaps Diane could remind me, as her head has not been out of her ass for years.

Maybe if this wasn’t such a plea for pity and deflecting personal responsibility, I wouldn’t feel the need to be the snarky bracing splash of reality.

Yeah okay, whatever the fuck point you just yammered, toots.

Now run along and do what has already been suggested - crawl back up your ass and shut the fuck up, you miserable skanky hosebeast.

Thank you for proving my point. Ignore the content and just deride and debase.

I already explained why I can’t crawl back up my ass. I haven’t been there in years.

And you still haven’t told me what it is like for you to be in yours.

Is it as cavernous as I hear?

It’s like having Neurotik in one of my threads.

I’m pregnant now! I hope you’re happy.

I WANT CHILD SUPPORT, YOU BITCH!

I don’t think I’ve ever posted a “me too” post, but that’s exactly what this is, so there goes that statistic.

DDG this is as constructive as criticism gets, please don’t take it personally.

Enjoy,
Steven

Or lack of.

Hastur, you’re definitely not going to win this one. In your eyes, maybe, you already have, but in the eyes of … well, a lot of people, you’re just starting a flame-out meltdown.

A very mild one. Maybe even an implosion.

Is it worth it?

[sub]Cue: “This is just a fucking message board, people, lighten up!” and “Well, I’m sorry I’m too brilliant for your little mind” and some joke about cunts to illustrate to us for the eleventybillionth time that you are in second grade.[/sub]

And you again prove me right that you are the mighty arbiter of what is and isn’t relevant.

You junior mod powers astound me.

Might I suggest that you and DDG petition for permanent status soon?

I don’t know how we all could exist without the radiant wisdom you shine down upon us now from your rarified heights above the rest of we, the board peons.

Ah, yes, now he cues the self-pity (poor fuckin’ me, I’m a VICTIM)

Fuck off, you sad, pitiful excuse for a human being.

It is not about winning. Not at all.

I am not approaching flame-out, meltdown, or implosion.

I find this VERY funny, and think that the self-righteous attitude of the other posters in this thread needs deflating.

You have been the one reasonable voice in this thread, IMHO.

Thank you.

Hastur, I echo the others-just don’t do this, all right?

Quick: Somebody disparage “magick” so we can watch his head explode.

Dearest goslug:

As the typed word misses inflection, you might have missed the levity intended in that remark.

As you seem to have an intellect, such as it is, that doesn’t get irony, sarcasm, or humour, I see how you would be literal and see it as self-pity.

Now… push yourself away from the computer, stop jerking off over your supposed justified indignation, and clean yourself up.

Won’t somebody think of the children?

I thought butt babies didn’t live?

Quick, someone call minty a shyster so we can watch him meltdown like Three Mile Island!

I’ve only been here a short time, but I think that you’re just fine ducky (btw, I barely restrained myself from saying you’re just ducky ducky).

I wouldn’t worry about one person’s personality conflict with you.

Deflecting personal responsibility? For what?

DDG has a posting style that someone (or some people), God forbid, finds annoying. Not devastating, not along the lines of personal attacks, namecalling, or other jerkiness–just annoying. Apparently, despite this, it isn’t against board rules, because although a couple of mods have weighed in the issue of “junior modding,” none of them have come out and said, “Oh, and by the way, quit posting all those useless Google searches.” Having not broken any rules nor really caused any board-crashing harm, she bears no personal responsibility for any of this mess.

If there is personal responsibility that needs to be taken for any behavior in this regard, it would seem to me to be on the part of the reader. You always have the time-honored, much-touted option of ignoring her posts, declining her help, or bowing out of a post altogether if her behavior is such a threat to your delicate consitution that you can’t function when she’s in the same thread with you.

If I were in DDG’s shoes right now, I’d probably be in need a little venting, a little sympathy, and a little support right now too. If she was getting cranky (I didn’t pick up on it, I’m just referring to what some other posters are saying), a quick “Hey, DDG, things okay? You’re sounding a little wobbly these days” would probably have done the trick. Instead, she got blindsided by what appeared to be the board equivalent of a bunch of mean girls in the lunchroom.

Why the attitude, Hastur? Why does DDG bear more responsibility for a posting style that you dislike than you do for coming in here and cutting her off at the knees, and for simply attacking anyone who speaks out for her? IOW:
Hey, Hastur, things okay? You’re sounding a little wobbly.

(Seriously. I don’t know you well enough to despise you, so I’m concerned. Are you okay, or just nasty?)

A truly successful hijack; I suppose we should all be grateful that it’s now a clusterfuck of “no I’m not” “yes you are”.

::Waiting for the inevitable “I’m rubber, you’re glue” post::

Duck Duck!

  • I begun to Google. The reason was that I promised in a thread to make a thread etc. So I Googled till I goggled!.
See how positive Your work affects mine?

  • So I begun to Google. I got so much information that I got a full-time-work of this gooooogling + over-time!

  • You told me and others how to Google. Now, please, tell me how to stop?
    How to sort everything out?

  • I have to stop somewhere, come to some conclusion. And post it. If it is wrong, I am not that stubborn that I fight facts, but if I wait until I get to the “final truth”, I can’t ever post again. A lifetime will not be enough.
So here is where You and the others come in. Welcome!

I have come to the following conclusions:

  1. The one (or two)-line posters are a nuisance. You can find one in this thread also. Completely out of line, if our task is to fight ignorance.

  2. “We” post too lightly, without really go through what “we” are posting. We should Google more.
Even if we have very good knowledge of the subject, there is always more facts or “anti-facts” like propaganda, lies etc. found. Why not to unveil the lies as well, when it is necessary or there is a need to do so.? The lies that are swimming around in
    e Net.

And from these resources we get, make a statement that relays on these facts we have/ we have found. (With “we” I mean whoever is posting, members in common).

  1. As You said, the Net has changed a lot within just 2 years.
It will radically change when it gets much more global as it is now. Maybe 2 - 4 years more?
It is global alright, but when people begins to post in English-spoken threads more and more, from let’s say: China, Iran, Finland, Tunisia etc.
How the written and non-written rules are affecting SDMB and the posters in common is very important.
How do we want to look like?
Something to look up to, or just slime-bags that put out in two minutes whatever is popping from our subjective brains?

As I see the future we are not only fighting ignorance, we are also making the world smaller in the sense that someone in just few minutes can replay to Your post, or mine, from the other side of the world.

So we should also “fight” for mutual understanding.

We can have 180 degree difference in opinions when a thread begins, and come to a mutual ‘almost understanding’, let’s say 78 degree in common.
How to do that? Only by very specific, truthful information!
I do know that everything that comes from Google is not the truth. far from it. Many times quite the opposite, but by cross-checking and other members cross-checking our cross-checked information, we will come somewhere.

The two-line-posters does not add anything to the OP, but we have to live with that.

I am maybe not the right person to say this all, I have erred.
But I learn, even if not so fast on every frontier, but I learn.
SDMB has taught me a lot. I understand some things better now, but that does not mean that I do not see big holes in other places. I mean ignorance.
And I think we all see. Obviously we have some hundred years of work ahead;), but so what. We should not give up.

Our work is to fight ignorance and help us all to understand each other better.
I think like this, anyhow.

Summa Summarum:
Let’s keep on rolling!Duck Duck!
