I don’t know yet what the music is going to be like, but the plot synopsis sounds pretty silly.
The trailer was three minutes of dancing CGI penguins. I would go see the movie if it were just ninety minutes of that.
They’re penguins! They dance! What’s not to love?
When you say “we’re recording the soundtrack”, who is the “we”?
Agreed!
Yes, we, who are we?
"We" are the Sydney Philharmonia Choir.

The preview is beyond silly, but I’m there first day because it’s directed by George Miller, who, among other things, directed Babe: Pig In The City, a great, great movie, strange and surreal and dark and right up my alley. HF doesn’t look to have the same dark, bizarre, feel, but I still can’t wait.
Oh, and, congratulations Cunctator !! Keep us informed about what it’s like to record music for a movie. Most of us have never done it and will never do it.
You ARE? My friends are planning to see that! It sounds really stupid but it has penguins, so it can’t be all bad.
What is it about penguins? Why is everyone so enamoured of them?
I think this film is being made by Animal Logic. I remember hearing about this in its earliest stages way back in 2001.
'Cause they’re cute, earnest, and slightly funny-looking. The same appeal as ducks and pandas.
You have to include the Cab Calloway hit Happy Feet of course. (A few years ago it was re-recorded as a techno number, which I know because Brian attempts to autoerotically asphyxiate to the song in the first season finale of Queer as Folk.)
Because they wear their best outfits all the time.
Why am I picturing a penguin skidding across the ice to a stop, punctuated by the perennial montage favorite “I Feel Good!!”
I can not produce empirically something that you can measure to provide a solid answer; all I can do is give you anecdotal evidence.
My two-year-old son and I occasionally go to the IMAX theater in Fort Worth at the science and history museum there to see movies; usually they are documentaries, but occasionally they have Bruce Campbell in them.
Alex has been in love with Happy Feet since he saw the first teaser with the dancing baby penguin. He will frequently tell us “I watch PENGUIN MOVIE!”, and is absolutely enthralled by any of its trailers that appear on DVD’s that we rent.
We had the rehearsal for the Happy Feet recording yesterday (Sunday). It’s interesting music and quite a bit different in parts from the sort of stuff we usually sing. It’s also an odd mix. Some of it seems to be in Greek. Other bits are very reminiscent of the choral parts in the Lord of The Rings Symphony. One song is composed by Stevie Wonder and is quite good fun. We practised it with our very best American accents.
I have no idea if this film will be good or not, because all I’ve seen about it so far is a teaser trailer depicting a penguin voiced by Robin Williams singing My Way in Spanish. That really isn’t much to go on.
But hey! Elijah Wood’s also in it AND Queen’s “Somebody to Love”!
I’m there!
Yeah, maybe in real life. But animated, it can be touch & go, and voiced by Robin Williams? Ugh.
We recorded the first lot of tracks for **Happy Feet ** last night - just the male voice stuff. The music is strangely haunting and very effective.
Oh, I’m so excited, wait til I tell my hubby someone from the Dope is on Happy Feet soundtrack!!!
We saw the preview a couple of weeks ago on tv and I really would like to see it.
