MBV has a time and place for me.
The Pixies though for a six month period in 92 were the single most important thing in my life. And I count Husker Du in my top five favorite bands ever.
I prefer Sugar to HD, myself.
And anyone who thinks “the '80s was mostly a time of heavily electronic synthesized music” was just listening to pop. fair enough, but there was tons of great guitar-led music put out in the 80s. But you wouldn’t find it if you read Smash Hits and not NME & Melody Maker.
The Cranberries just made it in under the wire in 1989. so there was indeed good music.
