Were these portraits mis-labeled on Wikipedia?

This portrait is supposedly of Richard Sackville, 3rd Earl of Dorset. However, the golden writing on the velvet curtain (or at least I’m guessing it’s velvet; maybe it’s something else, I don’t know) says "Edward Sackvill Brother to Rich’d Earle of Dorset who Succeeded him in y Earldom.

The portrait supposedly of Edward Sackville, on his Wiki entry, says in the same spot, “Rich’d Sackville Earle of Dorset.”

Have these portraits been mislabeled? Two other portraits of Richard Sackville exist - here and here, and they both plainly show the same man depicted in the first portrait on Richard Sackville’s Wikipedia entry, despite the painting itself being labeled as being of Edward.

I am inclined, then, to think that they are. I want to make a note of this on the Wikipedia pages but I want the advice of others before I do so.

I love these guys, they’re so dreamy!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway yes it looks like they were mis-labeled, you should make a note on their Wiki pages.
