Werth/Harper - Is there a bigger pair of a-holes batting back to back in MLB?

True that was the best part of all, and I was able to exhale knowing that Storen would be on the mound in the bottom of the 9th.

Pete Rose and Joe Morgan are excellent contenders for the pair of A-holes title.

If you want to pinpoint exactly when DC started loving Werth it was that exact moment, then he gave his explanation that he did it to protect the innocent children from the enraged drunken and middle aged Philly fans and we swooned. Tonight’s game might get a little ugly.

Forgive my ignorance, but is Kent the Jeff Kent who is currently on Survivor? Is he a D-bag for some reason? If not, who is he and what makes him one?

No need to explain Bonds. Ever.

Really? I’d have thought you’d want the Son of God hitting cleanup.

Morgan is an idiot, but is he an asshole?

Yes, the Jeff Kent on Survivor played with (and tried to punch) Bonds.

Also, Dodger fans (OK, me) will never forgive him for insulting Vin Scully, who committed the great crime against Kent of noting a statistic.

I’m kind of on Kent’s side here. I love Vin, but Kent isn’t wrong.

To be specific, Kent got on the case of third baseman David Bell in the dugout after Bell made a bad play. Bonds came over to defend Bell, and Kent turned on Bonds. They got into a shoving match, and manager Dusty Baker had to separate them. At some point Kent said he didn’t want to be on the team any more.

Kent did other jerkish things during his career. He injured himself while riding a motorcycle (which was prohibited by a clause in his contract), then lied about it by claiming he hurt himself when he slipped while washing his truck. He publicly ripped some of the Dodgers’ players while he was on the team. Generally, Kent was regarded as difficult by just about everyone who came into contact with him.

That’s understating it. Williams was absolutely despised by sportswriters and was not warmly received by his own fans. He was widely regarded the way people regarded Barry Bonds before the steroids - as a talented but selfish, assholish player who didn’t have it in him to actually win anything.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call Bryce Harper an asshole exactly. He’s a 19-year-old, very talented kid that gets pissed off when something doesn’t go his way. Sometimes disproportionately pissed off. He’s 19, whaddaya want from him.

And the Werth thing was hilarious.
