I usually love WW, but thought last night was a snooze. I hate when CJ gets on her soap box. I mean, really, she’s a press secretary, for pete’s sake. Her role is to put a positive spin on things, not to get herself all worked up over it. Surely she isn’t naive enough to think that the U.S. politicians give one iota about human rights. We’d probably STILL be supporting the Taliban if it weren’t for the 9/11 tragedy. Case in point: Look at how we completely ignore the entire continent of Africa. A horrific number of their people have AIDs, there are reports of child slavery and forced prostitution, most people have no access to basic medical care, kids starve every day…yet we turn a blind eye to them. Why? Because they don’t serve us any purpose. Were oil to spring up in them hills, though, well suddenly we’d become amazed and horrified at the condition of the citizens, blah blah blah.
My point is that CJ is politically savvy. She understands all too well the way the system works. If she REALLY cared about the plight of women in (insert country), she’d become a lobbyist, a UN worker, or a missionary. But press secretary? Ha!
