I recently heard someone mention that whales mate in mid-air. I find this very hard to belive (just imagine the tonnage that is airborne).
Can anyone verify this?

They writhe on the surface of the sea. The penis is several feet long, and flexible, and eventually finds its way to the ‘target’. I’ve seen it on TV and it is very very odd.
Whales are the only mammals, other than man, that mate “face-to-face”.
Dolphins, which are really just small toothed whales, mate underwater, on the surface of the water, smashed up against the side of a tank (in captivity), you name it. The one place they don’t mate is in “mid-air”.
GorillaMan has it right… whales certainly don’t mate “in mid-air”, however you might interpret that to mean.
Really, who gives a flying f*ck, anyway?
Actually, whales mate in the back seats of Dodge Darts.
1969 Dodge Dart Swinger, the two-door model, red, with the 225 slant six engine. The logistics were difficult.
Please don’t propagate urban legends here Skipper. Bonobo and sirenians also mate face to face, at least as much as whales do.
