90-95% of things I do in Sketchup, I do with the line tool or the push/pull tool, which automatically creates holes, but unfortunately Sketchup can’t handle a lot of data, so even if I download vehicle 3d models from the Sketchup site, which are made specially for Sketchup, even then Sketchup gets really, really slow…and they aren’t even some HD models.
So I want something that can handle at least cars and something that is easy to use, but precise and preferably with multiple windows, so that you can see the front, sides, 3d view, etc. at the same time, like in Blender.
Btw, Blender is what 99% of people will automatically say when you say ,easy 3d modelling", but Blender is not really that precise and more importantly, it doesn’t have the push pull tool that creates holes automatically and that is the tool that I use pretty much all the time, instead you have to copy a shape on a face, then extrude it, then use the boolean modifier and then clean up the mess and bridge the gap. All that trouble for something Sketchup can do in literally 2 seconds.
What about Cinema 4d, Maya, 3ds Max,etc, do any of them have the push pull tool thing or at least a plugin with it?
I casually play around with CG (without much talent or inspiration for doing anything too complex.) I do know that Maya has push/pull tools (used much like a paintbrush) and I’m assuming just about any CG program does. But “easy to use” doesn’t describe any of these programs–they are enormously complex with more options than (probably) most professionals know how to use.
Since most of the powerful pro programs are pretty darn expensive (but cheaper than they used to be) I see that the free, open-source POVRay is still being developed for after all these years. You may want to give that a look (I can’t say how the features are–probably 20 years since I’ve used the program.)
I don’t know the 3D landscape as well as I used to, but Cinema4D is much more mathematical in its model-making, so it’s good for regular geometry hard surface model making. Though it does much more than just that.
This is more of a CAD/CAM tool, but you can model amazing 3d stuff in Fusion 360. When you install it you get a year free, and then at the end of the year if you are a hobbyist or aren’t earning more than (IIRC) 100K with the tool in your business you can get a free license.
An amazingly powerful tool for free.
I’m not really clear on how it’s used outside the capacity I use it for (content creation for The Sims 3), but have you checked out Milkshape 3D yet? It’s not super intuitive, but it’s also not terribly difficult to use either.
If you’re talking about creating a precise drawing on the surface of a part, and extruding it out or into the part - try FreeCAD. It’s a parametric modeling software, so you can define dimensions precisely.
