This encapsulates the GOP position on Global Warming to a tee. I’m not joking. During one of Romney’s rallys, when he mentioned Sandy, someone interjected “What about climate? That’s what caused this” Romney did not address this.
Rather, the collectivist mob drowned him out, literally chanting “USA! USA! USA!” This is self parody. What a GREAT, cogent, well thought out answer, to the proposition that climate change is causing worse storms. AMERICA! FUCK YEAH! That’s your answer in this debate?
So, Romney is obligated to respond to every random moron who tries to disrupt his rallies?
Anyone who has paid any attention at all to the news coverage of this storm knows that it was a “Perfect Storm” type situation: a hurricane, merging with a cold front, at high tide, over a heavily-populated area. Every random fluke that could possibly have made this storm worse happened. While the media loves to use terms like “storm of the century” and “once in a lifetime storm” (which is a big part of the proplem, actually) this literally was a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Climate change has been with us since the Earth cooled. We humans do NOT control, and until we figure out how to put a thermostat on the Sun, we never will.
It was a dumbshit question, posed by a dumbshit heckler, and Romney was correct in ignoring it.
How is this a response to my OP? The crowd believes in mindlessly repeating brainless …well I won’t even call them assertions. They’re repeating thought-stopping slogans. They’re cloaking themselves in group membership to avoid the hard task of thinking.
When I was a kid, I never understood why wrestling crowds would chant “U-S-A! U-S-A!” during matches where both wrestlers were American. When I moved to the US, I didn’t understand why the national anthem was played before sporting events where both teams were American.
Now I’m an adult, and I guess “U-S-A!” is about as cogent a response as the global warming deniers have come up with.
I never thought of this before, but maybe one of the reasons global warming has such a poor track record with conservatives is that it has the word “global” in it. The global indicates expresses concerns outside the good old USA, and so it is probably a issue made up by all those whiny ass furiners who don’t have the good sense to be born in America.
A better term would be something like “Too fucking much CO2 which is fucking with the weather in god’s own US of A”
Those people came to see Mitt speak.
This guy is akin to that asshole who thinks it’s OK to aswer his cell phone in a crowded theater because hey ‘It was an imnportant call.’
Greg Proops mentioned on his podcast that at some Republican rally… possibly for Romney? Two (male) protestors began passionately making out and the crowd began grunting “U-S-A! U-S-A!” which Mr. Proops apparently found as baffling a non-sequitur as I do.
Or are we both misinformed? Does that neanderthal chant somehow have the ability to turn queers back into regular men like nature intended?
My favorite was when fans would chant for Bret Hart (Alberta, Canada) when he wrestled Yokozuna (Hawaii, US). Same level of cluelessness in both crowds (and I’m a wrestling fan).
