What about the Arab american boy who's grown up in America..

And all he wants to be was a pilot?
What do they do now if someone of middle eastern origin tries to become a pilot? Or do they do extra checks on everyone? I imagine singling them out would leave them liable for discrimination liability… but I imagine that they’re going to have some response?
This is kinda a GQ, but although I do want a factual response, I also want people’s opinions on the post and pre 9/11 procedures and how they should be changed?

“Eisenhower” is a German name - what if anybody with a German name had been forbidden to become president in the 15 years following WW2?

The name should nothing to do with it. Then again… I’m sure a Muslim name will set alarm bells off somewhere in the case of pilots’ licenses.

It’s the old ethnic profiling debate.

I think he’ll be okay as long as his personal info checks out, and he restrains from ever saying “Forget take-off and landing, I just want to learn how to fly it while it’s in the air…”

I think Hollywood would hire him very quickly.
But it would be much better if it was not Arab Boy but Arab Girl. I can write on that theme a brilliant Hollywood script.

Salaam. A
