Never trust anyone who wants to spend 43 billion dollars to avoid a simple background check.
I’m wondering if this is some kind of elaborate pump and dump scheme, like he does with his tweets about crypto.
Or, if he actually means what he says, I wonder if he will un-ban the CFSG from Twitter. Thereby making this thread doubly moot.
How do you monetize Twitter to make a $43 billion investment pay off?
Volume.
If every person on earth joins twitter and donates $7, every man woman and child, it can work!
I was thinking charge a penny per tweet. Or if that isn’t enough, a penny per letter.
So, not Telegram but a telegram?
We lose on every sale but make it up in volume!
One way is sell nothing for $2.9 million.
From CNBC:
An NFT of Jack Dorsey’s first tweet that originally sold for $2.9 million has lost almost all of its value.
All of these news stories should be required to include relevant actual value information, like this:
An NFT of Jack Dorsey’s first tweet that originally sold on the fantasy NFT market for $2.9 million despite having no intrinsic value has lost almost all of its fantasy market valuation.
He absolutely would. Consider it a sort of professional courtesy among narcissistic assholes. Not sure how much difference it would really make but it sure wouldn’t be healthy for the already sorry state of American politics.
Musk seems to believe that the basis of democracy is that every random conspiracy-theory lunatic should have the same access to public media as anybody else. It seems to have escaped his attention that facts matter – that they not only matter but that reliable access to facts is crucial to democracy. He seems willfully blind to the reality that America is awash in disinformation to the extent that facts no longer matter, and that this is what propelled the Orange Peril to the presidency and continues to give him major political clout among those living in an insane world of “alternative facts”, and which powered the January 6 insurrection.
No, Elon, the real threat to democracy is losing touch with reality, and being unable to distinguish reality from contrived self-serving fiction. To quote the motto of the Washington Post, democracy dies in darkness.
Who says he needs to make it pay off? It’s 15% of his net worth, if it just doesn’t lose more than a billion dollars a year he can play with his new toy for for 200 or so years.
Musk’s takeover is definitely now hostile, with the Twitter board adopting a poison-pill strategy to make it more difficult. Meanwhile, Musk is no longer even the largest minority shareholder; the asset management firm Vanguard Group now owns 10.3%. Twitter shares are trading well below Musk’s offer price.
Thanks, Volfie, that gives us some hope.
They were trading below his offer from the start of all this, that’s why the board has a problem now. If the shares drop below where Musk bought-in for his 9 percent of the company, it will be interesting to see if he takes his toys away and goes to play somewhere else.
Guys, I made that crack about Musk buying Truth Social and guess what I saw being posted, in all earnestness, on DipshitBook today?
My response:
I got a question about this publicity photo.
I’ve seen this photo published in a lot of places. ALL of them have been this fuzzy. That sure doesn’t look like Trump to me. Do you think that is Trump in the photo? Or a look-alike-sort-of model they found and hired just for some photo shoots?

ETA: If, for any reason, you can’t view the above photo link, here’s the same fuzzy photo from a Raw Story article.
Looks like a stock photo of the America-hating fuckstick to me.
You really think that’s him? The sunken cheeks just look wrong, as does the quantity of hair.
I will admit to some amusement over the endless stream of right-wingers insisting that Elon Musk will buy Twitter and restore Trump and all their other persecuted cronies and “free speech” will reign forever and ever.
But then this is hardly the first time conservatives have insisted that “being owned by a rich white guy” was a form of “freedom” HEYOOOOOOO
