What all methods are there to deaden a nerve to cope with nerve pain

On another forum I was talking to someone about nerve pain disorders like sciatica or cluster headaches. These illnesses are due to a particular nerve sending pain signals to the brain.

So I know there are a lot of treatments for nerve pain, but what all treatments are there when a doctor decides to just deaden the nerve so it can’t send pain signals to the brain anymore?

Off the top of my head I know about

Radiofrequency ablation
Botox
Cryonic freezing
Cutting the nerve

Anything else? Are there long acting chemicals that can be used (other than botox)? Like novocaine, but something that lasts for 3 months instead of 3 hours?

My husband has had rhizotomies. They give him about a month of relief. Other than that he’s on the heavy duty pain pills.
