What are .ace extensions?

I got a file today from someone I don’t know…I scanned it with my virus protector and it says it is not a virus or worm BUT I cannot open the stupid thing

What is it? Pictures? Text? what?

How do I open it?

And last but not least why haven’t I ever heard of a file like this before?

Stupid thing is 10 megs and I am very curious about this

It does say when I click on properties “ACDSee ACE Archive”

I do not have ACDSee…nor do I want it…the nagging box drove me mad

Any ideas?

Please don’t tell me to get ACDSee to open it…had it once…now use something I consider better for me

“Every file format in the world” says it’s a compressed archive, possibly generated by WinACE.

ACE is a file compression/packaging format. Think of ZIP files or RAR files and ACE files are the same thing.

http://www.winace.com and various other places have programs that will unpack them.
