Problem with that is that the US system isn’t nearly as supportive of multiple parties as the UK system is.
One thing we can definitely be doing better is spreading the word about just how impractical those citizenship tests are. For starters, the SAVE act, if passed, would disenfranchise most of the women in the US, and nobody’s complaining about that.
That’s not a hyperbole. It really would disenfranchise most women. Under the act, there are only three acceptable proofs of citizenship for natural-born citizens: You can use a passport, which most people don’t have. You can use an Enhanced State ID, which most states don’t offer. Or you can use a birth certificate bearing exactly the same name that’s on your photo ID, which most women don’t have, because most voting-aged women are married, and most married women in the US change their names.
He’s been mocked by comedians for the last ten years and even politicans like Jasmine Crockett on occasion, but what I’m suggesting is Democratic politicans relentlessly mock Trump and other MAGA politicians every single time they talk about them or their policies. Don’t refer to him as President Trump, call him Diaper Don, Cheeto Benito, Mango Mussolini, or something, anything that isn’t respectful or ominious. Frequently refer to MAGA as the party of pedophile protectors who want to look at your daughter’s genitals before she plays 6th grade basketball. I want to see a concerted effort on the part of the Democratic Party to relentlessly mock MAGA at every turn. That has not been tried.

Just one is all it would take. Given a choice wouldn’t you watch the one pointing out the lies? I would. I’m not confident I’m catching ALL the lies. There are so many, and he’s well practised, I’m certain to have missed a couple. I wouldn’t mind the assist.
Everything he says should be fact checked, but the lies are so many. No one can google all that! A news outlet needs to step up their game. Personally, I believe their ratings would soar.
I think you’re mistaken, I believe, at this point it would be popular with both sides. In increasing numbers as the midterms near.
Of course it would have to be somewhat middle of the road politically, to start from. Unallied to either party. (Hmmm, might be trickier than I imagined.)
I made the suggestion years ago that trust fund babies and remote workers should all move to where their votes would have the best impact, and I still say that is probably the only way to change the voting to less red/maga/stupidity.
The board I was on didn’t seem to think it would work but then when you point out that the entire voting count for some counties is in the hundreds, adding 100 persons / families to one of those sparse counties would be making a large change in voting. Remember that Rajneesh [?] in Oregon that took over the county with voter slamming.
It’d be easy to accomplish at the county level, but what would it accomplish? All counties vote on is county-level issues. To accomplish anything at all, you’d need to at least flip a state legislature seat, and those are all required to be equal population. Even the smallest legislative districts, New Hampshire’s, still have over 3000 residents, and that’s only because they have a very large house, so flipping one seat would be even less impactful. And still only affect one state, and that’s a state that’s already blue anyway.
This. There really is not any way to defeat MAGA directly. The correct tactic is to unite everyone else who isn’t MAGA. That would be best accomplished by, as you say, having a better Democratic Party.
They just need to draw new cards and play those. In other words, adopt more positions that will actually help ordinary Americans rather than catering to the wealthy oligarchs. No more slow playing the liberal agenda like the Democrats did during the first two years of the Clinton and Obama administrations. Be more forceful in enacting those policies when they do gain power (and doing those things in states where Democrats are in charge to show that they work).
