The name comes from the name of a French ship, Esperance, which translates to English as “Hope.”
(Unincorporated) Paradise NV is noted as being the home of most of the casino/resort “Strip” (south of Circus Circus) as well as the airport.

The Spanish version, Esperanza, is a tiny town near the Rio Grande in the high desert of the Trans-Pecos. It was named after a nearby tobacco farm. The owner had to have a lot of hope to think he could grow tobacco there.
There are several Esperanzas around the world, including one on Puerto Rico and three in the Philippines.

Sainte-Foy (also Holy Faith) was a city in Canada, is now a neighborhood of Quebec CIty.
