Hi! I’m really into games without a dominant end goal, with an emphasis on exploration. I like to be able to wander around and look at beautiful scenery, or even participate in surreal, nonsensical activities.
One of my recent aims was to be able to find Cosmic Osmo or The Manhole (info here: http://fourfatchicks.com/Rants/Commentary/pre-Myst/Myst.shtml ), classics from Cyan Worlds, and get them to play on my modern computer. While I haven’t accomplished that yet, my hunger for adventure still grows – especially looking at the many impressive Flash games on the web.
For example, Samarost ( http://www.samorost.net/samorost2/ ) is really creative in this regard, but it has too much puzzle-solving for me, and it’s not viewed in first-person. So I’m still looking for adventures out there which might be closer to what I’m hoping.
Does anyone have particular faves? Recommendations are appreciated, thank you.
