What are some shows that, in your opinion, never jumped the shark?

As in, they never became bad? They always remained good, the entire run through, every season.
Shows that have TWO SEASONS or less don’t count, by the way. So while most would say “Firefly”, that one is obvious because it only had one season. Same with Pushing Daisies, although that one had two season. Still, it remained great all throughout the whole run…but it just doesn’t have enough seasons (IMO) to matter much. When you only have two seasons to your name, it makes it MUCH easier to be good all the way through.

I’m talking about shows that have had at least three seasons or more.

Now…the challenge of “good all the way through” is a hard one, because there were a lot of seasons that I think were pretty good all the way through BUT one season, like That 70s Show or Roseanne…
…but sadly, I can’t include either of those on this list because both of those shows last season SUCKED. Hard.

No, this should just be shows that you think had NO bad seasons. Every season was good, up until the end. It doesn’t mean you think all the episodes were good–every show is gonna have a bad or slow episode once in awhile–but just as an overall experience, what shows do you think were pretty much solid the entire time it was on?

In my opinion, Weeds never got bad. Neither did The Office. And, obviously, Breaking Bad. **Prison Break **was also pretty good for every season it had.

**How I Met Your Mother **was close. It almost made it. But that last season was a bit more silly and hokey and unrealistic than all of the rest of it was. It just didn’t match up to the rest, sadly. The last season had its moments, though…80 percent of it is good, I’d say. But just not all.

And you? What’s your list?

The only one I can think of is Blackadder. Maybe WKRP.

The Odd Couple (the good one) Five seasons. 114 episodes. And it was still great when it finished.

Cheers, Taxi, and Newhart, off the top of my head.

Barney Miller? Does “posthumous” shark-jumping count? Because you might want to reconsider WKRP, if you’ve ever seen the syndicated version. (Ditto Prison Break and X-Files, if it’s brought up.)

Seinfeld, The Johnny Cash Show, All in the Family i.e. Archie Bunkers Place.

Johnny Cash introduced America to a wide range of Rock, pop, and country artists. It was the tv debut for many of them. The show could have gone on another three seasons. Johnny was still booking great musicians

Seinfeld deliberately pulled the plug while they were still a great show. He wouldn’t let it decline.

All in the Family completely reinvented itself as Archie Bunkers Place. New cast and new challenges for Archie ( running a bar with a Jewish partner). Great show. I think people had just grown tired of Archie after so many years.

’ The walking Dead ’ cannot be beat. But I guess it doesn’t count since it still active. Johnny Carson went out on top. Downton Abbey was great every season. I liked every Star Trek I ever saw, but that’s just me!

My Name Is Earl
Grounded for Life
Father Ted
Curb Your Enthusiasm

Some people might debate *My Name Is Earl *, when Earl went to prison and then was in a coma and dreamed his life was a sitcom.

On the old “Jumped The Shark” site (the one TV Guide wrecked) Magnum P.I. was one of the very few to earn a “Never Jumped” rating.

Mash
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

ETA:

The Dick Van Dyke Show, and second (70’s) Odd Couple

The Wonder Years
MAS*H
Frasier
House (debatable)
Elementary

I really hope Lucifer makes this list next year.

Supernatural (still going, just started 13th season)
Buffy 7 seasons
Angel 5 seasons
Blake’s 7 4 season + Best series finale EVER

I can think of a few non-jumpers among sitcoms:

**Barney Miller **- Actually got better with each season. Perfect series wrap-up.
**Frasier **- Even the Miles/Daphne/marriage/baby storyline holds up.
Gomer Pyle, USMC - Solid from beginning to end.
Leave It To Beaver - Ditto. Underrated, in my opinion.
The Mary Tyler Moore Show - Nothing jumpy here.
The Dick Van Dyke Show - The shows where the folks entertained sometimes made me thing of motorboats and water skis, but I don’t think the skiers ever actually got airborn.
Happy Days
mmm

Simpsons never jumped, but just entered a slow decline, still with flashes of the old brilliance.

Shows like Father Ted only had 25 episodes, even tho spread over 3 seasons. Doesnt really count, methinks.

ST:TOS.

Father Brown on the BBC hasn’t jumped the shark yet.

Some will disagree, but I’ll add The West Wing.

I can’t visualize jumping a shark.

My all-time favorite is HBO’s Rome, but it only had 2 seasons, so not a huge risk of shark jumping.

I’d definitely agree with Breaking Bad, and would add Mad Men.
