According to EU Employment Observatory Newsletter for February, 2004 :
The most recent data concerning average remuneration and the minimum monthly salary in Poland paints the following picture:
•As of December 2003, average salaries in Poland’s enterprises sector stood at 2 662.21 PLN (ie € 543) . This is a gross figure, subject to deductions to cover income tax and social insurance;
•The average monthly salary for the fourth quarter of 2003 was 2 276.84 PLN (€ 465); this figure is adopted for purposes of the legislative Act regarding retirement and disability benefits out of the Social Insurance Fund;
•As of January 1, 2004, the minimum monthly wage guaranteed by Polish law is 824 PLN (ie € 168);
•As of January 1, 2004, the monthly unemployment benefit (the basic rate) stands at 503.20 PLN (€ 103).
