What is really in Area 51?
Perdikkas the regent intended to send Alexander’s body to Aigai in Macedon, where his ancestors were buried, but Ptolemy hijacked it and brought it to Memphis in Egypt. His successor brought it to Alexandria and reburied it in an elaborate tomb that remained a major tourist attraction will into the Roman Empire. You can read the story here. It doesn’t say where Alexander’s body is now – I guess it suffered the same fate as the Library of Alexandria.
The real mystery is why anyone would steal something that cannot be fenced, except to an insanely wealthy collector who buys it knowing he can never display it publicly. How many of those are there, I wonder?
Who wrote the Book of love?
Who is buried in Grant’s tomb?
Where are the snows of yesteryear?
Those things are scary. Step in the wrong place, and suddenly a British policeman appears from nowhere and gives you a good scolding.
While we know who shot the Sherriff, we’re still in the dark about the who killed the deputy.
mm
A poster on these boards suggest the theory that the sheriff did it - and he was going to shoot the singer and use him as a scapegoat. I like the theory and so that’s what I go with.
Were any voting machines hacked/rigged in 2004?
Actually, the last part isn’t true at all, as Anderson’s story was that they couldn’t arrest Kosminski because the witness had positively identified him as the Ripper but then refused to testify on that point. As a Jew, he didn’t want another Jew to hang for the crimes, because that’s what Jews do: pervert justice to save their own. At least that’s what was said anyway by Anderson, a very conservative Christian who wrote books trying to predict the End Times based upon scripture and not a real friend of the Jews, obviously.
The avoiding a riot part was something the news media recently tacked onto the story, perhaps in confusion with the reason why the Goulston Street Graffiti was removed after the murder and mutilation of Catherine Eddowes.
And the major problem with these claims is that other police officials and investigators actively involved in the case explicitly denied that this alleged positive identification ever happened. Plus Anderson was busy with the Parnell Commission (defending forgeries he secretly made to falsely implicate Charles Parnell in terrorist Fenian activities and also trying to find sympathetic witnesses to support the cause during these hearings), vacationing in Switzerland for a month and then taking personal leave for his father’s funeral when the canonical murders were happening and being investigated. Anderson is about the last person to ask what was really going on during the investigation, and it’s somewhat unclear whether Swanson’s comments added to the margins of Anderson’s autobiography were intended to confirm the truthfulness of what he was saying or to just lay out the details of what Anderson believed.
Heh, sorry, professional Ripperologist here, couldn’t help myself.
Way off base, Wallloon. The book is crap.
I read Rush to Judgement by Mark Lane before reading Case Closed, and when I read Posner, I thought : Man, he has it nailed. Then I read Rush to Judgement again. Posner is mostly smoke and mirrors. His book has properly been described as a lawyer’s brief. Not subject to impeachment.
When his book first came out, I noticed a remarkable occurrence. They were reviewing it on whatever show had Barbara Walters on in the evening, and you could see their faces markedly lighten up in relief, as if somebody told them that their long lost loved ones were turning up with a treasure chest full of gold! I had seen this look at many emergency rooms when people had been told that the crisis was resolved…and, to top it off they went into some acrobatics cackling about how all of the people that claimed to be in Dealey Plaza were a bunch of liars, crackpots, etc… Very, very bizarre behavior from journalists. People that act like this have a deep need to have a government that is always right there with a comforting closure to any lingering doubts, so they can rest assured that their lives will not be upended by (dare I? Yes! I do!) an inconvenient truth! teehee.
I could go on and on, but the facts are, that Posner’s book is a fun read, but not anything that will get you close to the truth.
hh
I’ve also read Rush to Judgement (and a shelf full of other Kennedy assassination books), and a lawyer’s brief is exactly how I would describe Lane’s book.
Does “anal retentive” have a hyphen or not?
Tell me.
Please.
TELL ME!!!

How about a colon?
Curse you.

**Oak Island ** - I’ve been fascinated with this ever since I saw an episode of “In Search Of” (I think) when I was a kid. The engineering alone to make this hole has made me wonder what exactly was/is hidden down there.
-
**JFK assassination ** - All theories aside (and I don’t want to debate them here), I’d just like to know the truth. About everything and everybody. For those of you that are readers of all of the interesting theories, etc., a great book is “Who’s Who in the JFK Assassination”. It cross-references people and theories and really makes you realize how much stuff is out there. Perhaps it IS as simple as Oswald. But I’d love to know for sure.

When I was a kid, I tried the “How many licks to the center of a Tootsie Pop”. I’m guessing the pop was bigger then than it is today, but I got to over 3,000 licks before I stopped counting.
I think Mr. Owl had it right all the time. -
Who the **Zodiac Killer ** was.
Here’s one that hasn’t been mentioned yet: Who profited from the 9/11 attacks? Just before the 9/11 attacks, stock traders noticed a huge upswing in the number of short-sells. Someone was betting that the airlines were going to take a big hit soon. Other companies that had operations in the World Trade Center were also short-sold. WTF was going on there? Why haven’t these people been arrested, or at least publicly identified?
I’m also interested in Oak Island. I’d love to find out, once and for all, whether anything is really buried down there or not.
What’s on Bill Gates home computer and has it ever been hacked? (If not, then given Winblows pourous security measures, I have to ask why not?)
The man’s no dummy. He uses a Mac. That’s no secret is it?
Biggest secret that remains unreaveled?
Why is Paris Hilton famous?!
Hey- thanks. SO who do you think did it?
And I forgot that it was Swanson’s annotation, not Anderson’s.
Actually, I knew about Anderson’s fund’ist C’nity long before I knew about his marginal involvement in the Ripper investigation. THE COMING PRINCE is a classic in Rapturist circles.
