What are the complete lyrics of “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall”?

i = 0

“99-i bottles of beer on the wall!
99-i bottles of beer!
Take one down, pass it around, 99-i-1 bottles of beer on the wall!”

i = i + 1

If i <= 98, repeat; else, end.

Thanks!

Cabbage, you just saved about a mile of posting space. That math thing is pretty cool.

Now if I could just learn how to pay my rent, bills, and taxes on time…

Or, alternately
*“If one of those bottles should happen to fall, *99-i-1 bottles of beer on the wall!”
Fenris

What, is that second version the one they teach to humans under 21?

I heard Cabbage’s version as a child.

Here is my favorite version:

Aleph-null bottles of beer on the wall.
Aleph-null bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around.
Aleph-null bottles of beer on the wall.

Aleph-null bottles of beer on the wall.
Aleph-null bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around.
Aleph-null bottles of beer on the wall.

Aleph-null bottles of beer on the wall.
Aleph-null bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around.
Aleph-null bottles of beer on the wall.
.
.
.
(Continue subtracting one from aleph-null until you reach zero.)

I recall a program for the mac called “99” or something similar that would sing the song in a computer generated voice. The cool part was you could enter a starting value. I think it allowed up to 10 billion, so I remember it singing thus:

nine billion nine hundred ninety-nine million nine hundred ninety-nine thousand nine nundred ninty-nine
bottles of beer on the wall
nine billion nine hundred ninety-nine million nine hundred ninety-nine thousand nine nundred ninty-nine
bottles of beer
take one down, pass it around,
nine billion nine hundred ninety-nine million nine hundred ninety-nine thousand nine nundred ninty-eight bottles of beer on the wall.

(iterate.)

Note that it didn’t speed up its voice while saying the number, so the length of the verse extended quite a bit. It was almost painfully funny by the time it got down to 9,999,999,997.

Erm. I guess you had to be there.

Note quite as cool as DrMatrix’s version, but oddly enough I don’t think any computer will live long enough to finish either version.

Here’s a drinking game I invented:

While singing the song you take turns making up a funny verse about what you’d do with the beer besides passing it around.

Examples:

*99 bottles of beer on the wall
99 bottles of beer
You take one down, smash it against the bar and grind it into the face of the guy sitting next to you
98 bottles of beer on the wall

98 bottles of beer on the wall
98 bottles of beer
You take one down, shake it and spray it up the waitress’s dress
97 bottles of beer on the wall*

When I saw the topic of this thread, I figured that this would be a stupid MPSIMS thread. As it is, thanks largely to Cabbage and DrMatrix, it’s turning into a hilarious MPSIMS thread. But it remains an MPSIMS thread.

By the way, Cabbage, what’s the purpose of that “if i<=98” statement? Didn’t you ever go negative?

The thought of a negative (or imaginary) number of beers depresses me. A transfinite number of beers, however, would be acceptable. Thanks, DrMatrix!

Replae ‘beer’ with any of the following…
‘soda’(for the northerners)
‘pop’ (for the Brits?)
‘Coke’
‘Pepsi’
‘that drink we can’t have and aren’t allowed to say, in the bus on the way!’
‘Tang’
‘Blood’

[i = 0

        "99-i bottles of beer on the wall!
        99-i bottles of beer!
        Take one down, pass it around, 99-i-1 bottles of beer on the wall!"

        i = i + 1

        **If i <= 98, repeat; else, end**.

[/quote]

The version we used was
If i = 99, “then go to the store, and buy some more”; i = 0 repeat from beginning.

10 billion eh? I sing it from 1 vigintillion (it used to be from decillion, but then I found this at The Straight Dope here: http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mgazilli.html )

I never get very far after the first verse though. Not because it’s so long, but because I usually end up with someone’s hands around my neck…

void main (void);

void main (void)
{
  unsigned int t;
  for (t = 99; t > 0; t--)
  {
    cout << t << " bottles of beer on the wall, " << t << " bottles of beer.
  Take one down, pass it around, " << (t - 1) << "bottles of beer on the wall.

";
    getch();
  }
}

I just wrote that program here, and I haven’t actually ran it, so it may not work. I think I missed an include file of some sort.

Anyway…

I have sung (sang?) the entire 99 Bottles Of Beer song. I was riding in the back of a pickup truck with my little sister, and she was constantly yakking about stuff I couldn’t give a rat’s ass about (even after I told her I wasn’t interested.) So I started singing the song. Has anyone else done it?

WellKJ
At least we know who emptied all those beer bottles :slight_smile:

Yup. My chior got all the way through on a bus trip. (a 14 hour bus trip…) It sort of spread into a few different styles with harmony and some guys doing beat box on the seats and floor though. Mostly R&Bish with a gospel
interlude. My chior rocked.

Hey KJ, i believe the line you are missing is:

#include <iostream.h>
:slight_smile:

-Dani

Yeah, i think i got through it all on the bus to an Orchestra competition. When we got to 1 it was like:

1 bottle of beer on the wall
1 bottle of beer
take one down, pass it around
0 bottles of beer on the wall

0 bottles of beer on the wall
0 bottles of beer
go to the store, buy some more
99 bottles of beer on the wall

At this point the bus driver started yelling quite profusely, so we decided it would be better not to continue.
