What are the words to "Jeepers Creepers"?

I was reading Roger Ebert’s review of “Jeepers Creepers 2” and he mentioned that (quasi-spoiler alert) the creature in the movie needs to steal replacement body parts. As a hint to the body parts he needs, Ebert suggests reciting the words to the ‘Jeepers Creepers’ song. But for the life of me, I cannot remember them. “Jeepers Creepers, you’ve got some peepers” is all I recall. What’s the rest?

Here you go.

Well, here’s an alternate version on this page, and it’s the first version I ever heard:

BTW, the end of this cartoon has the ending song edited out nowadays.

So all that the killer in JC2 wants are new eyes? Why doesn’t he just get some tinted contact lenses?? And why 23 sets of eyes fer cryin’ out loud?

Guess I’d have to see the movie to answer that question. But…I’m just not that curious.

I saw the first movie with a friend of mine in the theaters when it first came out. We were both in our late 20s and were completely scared during the first half of the movie to the point where we thought about leaving. For some reason, I can’t exactly remember why, the tone of the movie changed midway through and it got, well, silly is a good word for it. It seemed like the writer or director was eaten by the creature and replaced with a lesser substitute.

The original screenplay featured the song “Barney Google with the Goo Goo Googly Eyes.” However, King Features Syndicate wanted a budget-breaking sum for the rights to the name Barney Google so the original song was replaced with “Jeepers Creepers.”
Another fun fact brought to you by my irresponsible imagination.
