What are you absolute most hated movies of all time? Your "zero stars" movies

Toys with Robin Williams. Not objectively the worst movie I’ve ever seen (maybe not even his worst movie) but in the context of how ambitious it was, a colossal failure. Unfunny, poorly paced, and excessively long. And kids who were the audience for this in the 90s were supposed to sympathize with wooden toys over video games.

Yeah, it could have been a much better film if they’d hacked an hour off it. So much visual promise, but it lost its way after the first act.

Not to mention Shaving Ryan’s Privates.

May be hard to believe, but at one time Kevin Costner was seen as one of the leading men of his era. Then he did those 2 post-apocalyptic bombs, and I don’t think he ever recovered, did he?

The Postman is a well made movie…with a terrible script. I only watched Waterworld and Postman one time, but I would say in terms of quality, Waterworld might be the better movie.

Postman is gorgeous, well-acted, but duller than almost any movie out there. A huge snoozefest.

Seems to have done well in Yellowstone and has ongoing film commitments, so I think he’s managed okay. Plus there’s his ocean-cleaning side hustle.

They took a very interesting book and made it boring. But it did have Tom Petty.

And somebody thinks he can carry a couple $100 million dollar (combined) films this summer.

My personal loathes:

  1. old: Disney’s the Jungle Book, and National Velvet with Elizabeth Taylor. Both because they debased and ruined two favorite and very well-written books of my childhood.

  2. moronic blockbusters: Titanic. American Beauty. Hated both of those films. I’m sure there are others of similar grandiose self-congratulation but those are ones that I actually watched,

  3. Most French art films, with four thumbs down for Le Rayon Vert and its relatives, in which nothing much happens to people impossible to care about.

I avoid films made for teenaged boys of any age so can’t speak to those.

I actually liked it, but was in dollar tree yesterday and the woman showed me her pink flamingo socks.
I said Have you seen the movie?
She said no.
I said, “Don’t!” Lol

My wife made me watch Holiday Inn AND White Christmas last year and yet we’re still married. Not sure which one I hated worse.

… heads off to IMDB to see if Will Ferrell has ever been in a movie that I would voluntarily watch…

Nope

Not even Barbie?

Add me to the “Will Ferrell is not the least funny” club, have watched Blades of Glory and Land of the Lost with him starring; the first he is just pathetic and the latter he is out-acted by the T-Rex.

Wasn’t listed on his filmography page. I’d forgotten he was in there. Good catch. (Good movie).

Barbie was only OK, but if you do want to see a really good movie he is in, watch:

Quiz Lady - also from last year.

The Lego Movie

I mostly agree about him, I tried that Eurovision movie he made and genuinely went in with positive hopes, but it just got too lame and low-brow(?) or something during it.

I’m probably forgetting something else.

Stranger Than Fiction!

That was pretty good too.

We love White Christmas.

Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl remains the worst movie I’ve ever sat through almost one year on from me starting this thread.

It was like Roger Ebert’s standard for zero star movies. He gave them to movies that offended him or insulted him deeply. Or, of course, were just plain horrible in all ways.

It’s still Vampire Girl for me.

I can see clearly now the Straight Dope community is unfamiliar with the Evil Bong series. That’s right. I nominate ALL 11+ films with a title including these two words.

T&A never hurt anyone. I get the appeal to young men who want to see tits, but we have the internet now. No one needs to sit through this plot in order to stroke it to these weak Skinimax retreads. And the models are mournful. They had mournful breasts. Like picture of a child with Progeria level sad.

There could be a sub-category here, separate from the schlockmeisters, of once-greats whose creative output went to shit in later life. Otto Preminger, Billy Wilder (go ahead and scan through Buddy Buddy on YouTube at your own peril), and Stanley Kubrick (Eyes Wide Shut to Sexual Morality that had Evolved Since the Original of 1926).
