Nothing. I’ve been told by my doctor to SAY I have an allergy to morphine but apparently it’s really just a sensitivity since I don’t also have a reaction to codeine. Since I don’t think any of you are going to slip me morphine I feel safe telling you the truth however.
Hmm, let’s see now: cool-season grass pollen and seed, hardwood tree pollen of various types, hay, and urushiol to the max.
I also have oral allergy syndrome when my hay fever is kicking in. It makes my mouth and throat itch if I eat unripe bananas, raw carrots, turnips, cabbage, or radishes, tree nuts, or peanut skins. The list is really longer- these are but a few of the itchy foods. Fresh pineapple is the worst and blisters my mouth.
All of these were much worse when I lived in Indiana. I now live in south Georgia where the offending hay fever allergens are less prevalent. Therefore, the food allergies are much less bothersome. The urushiol (poison ivy, oak, sumac) allergy is still as strong but easy to avoid.
I am apparently allergic to pollen(s) because my sinuses go crazy in the spring and fall hay fever seasons, but I’ve not been tested to determine the actual culprits. Spring hits me much harder.
I don’t know if these are allergies
If I spend any time in a house with plug in air fresheners I have trouble breathing and I will get blisters around my lips and inside my mouth.
Air fresheners (popups or spray), frebreze and some scented candles will do the same to a lesser degree. As will a walk down the detergent aisle of the grocery store.
If I walk barefoot across a carpet recently vacuumed with carpet fresh the soles of my feet turn bright red, itch and burn.
Wet leaves of tomato plants give me itchy red welts.
Deodorant makes my underarms swollen and sore, so I have to use a mineral stone.
I developed an allergy to shrimp 20 years ago, but was fine with other shellfish – after a second bad reaction to crab yesterday, I very, very reluctantly add it to the list. mad
I live with two cats. :smack: Getting rid of them is not an option, because they help my mood so much. Plus, no one else would put up with Vincent; once the shelter/wherever found out he was a biter, it would be off to the Rainbow Bridge for him.
Also allergic to dust, penicillin, and I think grass pollen. Our overall pollen levels locally are low-to-medium today, but one of them is grass, and I have been miserable.
In addition to the obvious envoirnmental allergies (tree buds, mold and ragweed), I’m allergic to a lot of types of soap and detergents (from handsoap to laundry soap), many candles, air fresheners and fragrences, bee and wasp stings (carry an epipen), stick anti-perspirent (big, itchy welts) and am sensitive to codeine and demerol (comes up on my shoes).
(Why yes, I was one of those geeky kids who took allergy shots back in the day)
Kiwi
Eggplant
Shrimp/shellfish
Beef (very very mild)
Other:
Dust
Mold
Grasses
Pollen
Dust Mites (insanely high)
Pet dander
The only ones that really concern me are the shrimp and the dust mites. For the mites, and the other environmental allergies, I’m getting shots. For the shellfish, I love crab legs so much that I am quite willing to give up shrimp in exchange for eating crab occasionally. The shrimp allergy is far worse anyway, the crab allergy is very mild, so I take my chances with crab.
However I am sad to never, ever have shrimp scampi again. I did love it. I can still eat shrimp if it’s cooked all the way through (think blackened shrimp) but I just don’t.
ETA: Having read the OP… most bar and laundry soap (Ivory Spring is probably the worst,) V8 Splash for some reason, any kind of metal other than stainless steel, though my wedding ring is white gold and I manage.
Every single bug bite makes me itch like crazy, break out in huge welts that break open and ooze some yellowish liquid before hitting blood. I have had reactions as large as a dime, and some summers my arms look like I’m shooting drugs.
