I’ve always liked giving out candy so had Reese’s peanut butter cups and Ferraro Rocher squares. My neighborhood’s always been full of deep shadows so not fully suited for trick-or-treating. Yet the sweetest parents and children come by each year.
Mars bars, Twizzlers and Nibs. One Mars bar, one Twizzler or Nibs per kid not wearing a costume. Kids in costumes get double the amount and I tell them that.
Forgot to mention we had a Howloween party in my complex. I brought freeze-dried beef meatballs from Trader Joe’s. They were a big hit. Daisy, a yellow lab, was stalking me the entire time I was there. If I gave a meatball to a dog who ptui’d it, Daisy was there immediately to snarf up the reject. And one of the shy dogs who initially rejected the meatball I offered watched me give one to another dog. He gave me the ‘look,’ and this time he ate the one I gave him. Ha.
I bought Reese’s because I will eat them. Haven’t had one TnTer in five years. There are plenty of kids on the block and neighborhood but they must go to more highfalutin areas or do the trunk n treat events.
I’ve never heard of trunk’n’treat. We get scads of kids every year. Last night was no exception. Ran out of candy around 8 pm.
I bought a huge back of micro-reese’s cups and gave out handfuls of them.
I used to give kids the choice of candy or a pen which the little kids liked but I didn’t buy any this year.
I haven’t had a single trick or treater at my house in at least 15 years. But there are a couple of new families with young kids in the area, so I got some Reese’s peanut butter cups just in case. No one showed up, so sadly I’ll have to eat them myself.
We handed out Starburst–the all reds/pinks bag.
