Halloween candy - so what did you give out this year?

Pretty much solid chocolate this year. Splurged and bought normal-sized Snickers bars, along with the higher-end mix of name-brand bars of Heath, Milky Way, Twix, Kit-Kat and the like. Standard drop is a handful of the bars, with the full-size numbers reserved for the little kids and the extravagantly costumed. Plenty of the former, none of the latter so far tonight.

You?

Snickers, Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups, Peanut M&Ms, Plain M&Ms and Twix.
Snack-Size, but we gave out 3 or each. We had less than 20 kids come by and bought for over 65, so lots of leftover candy.

My daughter though is hosting a Halloween Party with her friends, so some of the candy is disappearing.

Kids don’t come down our street. Bought no candy, gave out same.

That reminds me, the small turn out is more than our total at the old place for the last 20 Halloweens. But we thought we might get as many as 50 kids this year, so a little disappointing. In the prior 10 years we gave out 2 pieces total.

Nothing. No trick-or-treaters. The community had 'Trick-Or-Treat On The Berm yesterday, and it seemed well-attended, Also we had guys putting on a new roof all day today.

We still have candy from last year, I think in unopened bags. Since I don’t eat candy, Mrs. L.A. has her work cut out for her.

Waited until this weekend to buy candy. Every store was sold out. Only saw two groups go through our neighborhood, so no big deal I guess.

Fun size (not minis) twix, snickers, crunch, milky way, butterfinger and laffy taffy. Gave out a handful to each of the 10 trick-and-treaters we had and still half a bowl left.

No kids, but we’re still running the A/C, so the house is closed up. Had we gotten our replacement evap cooler, the doors would have been open and we may have gotten some kiddos. But we never get many as the houses on the steep mountain are spread out quite a bit, lot of walking, small reward.

We had less than 20 kids, so lots of leftover candy. Which seems weird. Two years ago, it snowed, the year before that it rained, and of course 2020 was the year from hell. We had more kids at door during those years. Sad.

I hear that. After the first rush, it was dead. My seniors can expect to see some pretty decent chocolate in the candy dish over the next few weeks, because I’m sure not going to eat it all!

Most, yes. All, no.

We’ve never had a trick or treater (private road in the country), plus we go out so we aren’t even home, still my gf bought candy “just in case”. Full sized Snickers and Peanut Butter Cups this year.

Our Halloween plans kept changing and we finally decided on Saturday to stay home, so I bought a couple of 60 ct bags of assorted Hershey’s candy. Our candy was all gone by 6:45. (Last year I bought too much and we were still eating leftover Halloween candy after New Year’s!)

Had some sour candy on standby in case anyone knocked on the door but no one did. Was from my private stash anyways.

I bought a bag of mixed fun-sized candy bars (3 Musketeers, Twix, Snickers, and Starbursts, I think). I wrapped them in strips of cheesecloth and put googly eyes on them = Yummy Mummies. (They ware also a hit as shared snacks at the football game on Saturday.)

I have a bunch leftover.

We gave out Hershey “Fun” size bars…but each child got four. We got over thirty trick-or-treaters, and had a grand time giving out candy and watching cheesy zombie movies.

I got off work late and joined Mrs. Trees for the last half hour of tricky treat.
We give out full sized candy bars and little hug drinks.
I give out the good stuff in the hope that these little hoodlums will remember me for it, and not rob me in a few years when they are horrible teenagers.

This is our first year in the new house and I had no idea how many kid we would have, so I picked up a ton of candy this year – enough to fill a 5 gallon bucket. A mix: Starburst, Skittles, Mike & Ike, and various chocolates. In our previous neighborhoods we only had one or two kids each Halloween but last night… holy shit. I tried to limit myself to giving only 3 pieces to each kid who came to the door and we still handed out over 2/3 of the candy in the bucket. I had toyed with the idea of getting full-sized Hershey’s and Snickers, but I’m glad I didn’t do that as we easily had a hundred kids across the 4 hours or so they were coming up to the door. We had more kids in the first 20 minutes than we’ve had in the past 21 years put together.

I brought the leftover candy to school today and so far only staff have gotten into it – none of the kids have wanted any. Weird.

Full sized Snickers, etc, about 50 kids.

A good number came in packs, with parents.

Quite a few older kids with meh costumes, but they got the candy anyway.

Since kids get so much candy, I gave out small bags of peanuts. Got a case of 48, and used them all up (though I did give out 2 bags toward the end). I also got a big bag of mixed fun-size candy; about half of that is left over.

Had less kids than usual this year. Heard from a lot of neighbors that they were worried about their kids going out this year, what with the big increase in crime in Minneapolis, especially in our south Minneapolis neighborhood, which used to be a pretty safe area. But that was before they ‘defunded’ our police.

Goldfish (the cheese crackers, not actual fish) and mini-chocolate chip cookies (store-bought small packages).
We told all the kids to take two, since we bought (we thought) plenty. But we had more kids this year than we ever had before – more than 35. Pepper Mill went scrambling upstairs and brought down a collection of snack-like things we had. Gummys that no one at our house wanted to eat. PB&J cookies in wrappers we were given at a hotel. Granola bars. We survived the holiday, but for the first time we had no leftover treats to eat.
