Mrs. L bought some one oz (or so) packages of Chips Ahoy!, Teddy Grahams, Oreos, Nutter Butters, Reese’s PB sandwiches. She also found some Pandas and we ended up giving out the last of our granola bars. But she also was cleaning house and stumbled across some old prizes…things like mini kaleidoscopes or fun rings. Those were more popular than the food. When we ran out of the toys, I told Mrs. L we could do like Walter Matthau in Grumpy Old Men and give out a stapler.
Zero trick or treaters at our house this year. We turned off the lights and didn’t decorate, so we were probably sending a message to skip us. But as far as I know, there was no one on the street trick-or-treating at all this year. One house a half-block away goes crazy with all holiday decorations and I saw a lot of cars there, but got the impression it was a party.
We did buy one bag of mini candy bars in case we were somehow dragged into participating, but we’re gradually munching through it ourselves now.
