The wind and ambient traffic.

I had my radio stolen almost two years ago, and have never seen the need to replace it. I miss NPR a little, but I enjoy the “quiet time” (though if we’re ever on longer road trips, my wife notices its absence a bit).

In the CD player right now is Disc 1 of Iron Maiden’s Ed Hunter set, which I got on Saturday as an early Christmas gift. (I love me some Bruce Dickinson! )

I keep a Case Logic CD wallet in the car with a bunch of discs that I swap out from time to time. Let’s see what I can remember of the contents from off the top of my head: Rent; the Triplets of Belleville soundtrack; a handful of homemade mix CDs; the other Ed Hunter disc and one other Iron Maiden album; two Cowboy Mouth discs; two Linkin Park discs; and some other stuff I can’t remember right now (though there’s probably some Billy Joel and some Beatles in there).

I’ll be listening to Maiden for a while.

Del McCoury - Del & The Boys
Jimi Hendrix - Blues
Alison Krauss & Union Station - Live
Miles Davis - Porgy & Bess
Herbie Hancock - Headhunters
De La Soul - Three Feet High & Rising
The Beatles - Revolver
Anthony Newman Plays Bach - 24 Preludes and Fugues
Ice Cube - The Predator

Eclectic, that’s for sure.

Beastie Boys - Hello Nasty
Doors - LA Woman
Strokes - Is this it
Franz Ferdinand - eponymous
Bobbie Gentry - best of

and the sixth spot in my cd changer is currently a compilation I made up of the first 20 5* rated songs on my iTunes.

This wouldn’t work for me, since I invariably find myself humming the last godawful Christmas song that I heard in a store or other public place. My own music can drive that out of my head if I play it loud enough.

Right now, I have:

Radiohead, OK Computer
R.E.M., New Adventures in Hi-Fi
David Byrne, Feelings
Oingo Boingo, Good For Your Soul

Nothing even remotely recent, but music I know well works best to tamp down the excess holiday cheer.

I’m not in my car!
[sub]and I doubt if any of the rest of you are either.[/sub]

It did happen!

I don’t know the names of the albums just the artists, mostly they are of the “greatest hits” variety.

Waylon Jennings
Lynard Skynard
Jimmy Buffet
Queen
Sheryl Crowe
Dixie Chicks
Bonnie Rait
Assorted comedy

Something LOUD enough that you can hear me coming a block away  .

In my 6 CD changer:

Jimmy Buffett: Meet Me In Margaritaville 2 CDs
Brad Paisley: Mud On The Tires
Nickel Creek: Nickel Creek
Clint Black: Spend My Time
Bonnie Raitt: The Best of Bonnie Raitt

I’m such a sucker for these threads that I’ve come back to post again . . . this time, with the contents of my Case Logic wallet at hand. :D[ul]

No Billy Joel or Beatles after all . . . huh.

Primarily, it’s mix cds, but I also have a few albums that I can’t listen to at work due to excessive weirdness or profanity, so those come in the car sometimes. Right now, it’s Paul’s Boutique by the Beastie Boys, Get Away From Me by Nellie McKay, and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by the Flaming Lips.
