What is in your CD player right now?

I love this question.

Car CD players are acceptable as are home CD players or (godforbid) Tape players. I’ve always thought that music is a fantastic insight into someone’s personality. Its a pretty subjective insight but I see an immediate difference between someone who has, say, Beethoven’s 9th as opposed to, say, Britney Spears in their musicbox. Don’t you?

How about Artist / Album.

Here’s mine:

I believe right now my car’s 6disc changer has:

DJ Shadow / Endtroducing
Habib Koite / Ma Ya
Ry Cooder & Ali Farka Toure / Talking Timbuktu
Morcheeba / Who can you trust?
Blackalicious / N.I.A.
Cornelius / Point

So whats in your CD player right now?

Dream Theater/ Falling Into Infinity.

Been a while since I listened to it…

In my computer right now, the Beatles’ Please Please Me; in my portable CD player, the Screaming Trees’ Dust; and in my car, the second disc of U2’s 1989/12/30 show.

Paul Westerberg live at the Vanderbilt, Plainview NY, 8-20-2002.
Old 97’s, Fletchers, Baltimore MD, 3-3-2001.

Mixed tape in my car (the horror, the horror - still using a tape player).

Steve Earle’s Guitar Town at home (At least it was when I left this morning. It will probably be either Raffi Sings Silly Songs or Van Morrison’s Moondance when I get home. Those are my 3-year old’s current favorites. Oh, the joys of parenting.).

CDs:
Various artists - Due South soundtrack.
The Beautiful South - Blue is the colour.
Kalyi Jag - Chants Tziganes de Hongrie

In the tape deck:
John Mellencamp - Lonesome Jubilee.

Home: Ramones - Loco Live
Home Computer: Dark Tranquillity - Damage Done
Car: Sentenced - Cold White Light

My current selection is in my posts where most people’s sig resides so Work Computer…

NP: Metallica - Ride the Lightening

In my car’s CD player, I have the following:[ol][li]Dimmu Borgir, Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia[]Nile, In Their Darkened Shrines[]Opeth, Morningrise[/ol]Recently I took out Annihlator’s Carnival Diablos and Brujeria’s Brujerizmo. I think I’m seeing a trend there…[/li]
At home, I have my entire CD collection in mp3 format on my hard drive. Recently, I’ve listened to AC/DC, Genesis, Green Day, Lita Ford, Cradle of Filth, Rasputina, and Pink Floyd. I love the “random” button.

Wayne Shorter - Speak no Evil

I only have a CD in my car player at the moment (home computer, laptop, alarm clock/cd player, and discman are empty):

Industrial Monk, Prophecies.

In the car:

the newMark Knopfler, the Ragpicker’s Dream

Rolling Stones: Hot Licks

collection of Beethoven

the new Dixie Chicks

old Outkast

VNV Nation Futureperfect

I’m not alone
I’m not afraid
I’m not unhappy
These are the words I tell myself every day

This cd kicks ass.

Okay, I’ll bite - I have one of my wedding mix cds in the car (currently on Jesus Jones’ “Right Here Right Now”), and in the pc I have The Police - “Every Breath You Take” compilation. (Caprese, you have two of my soon-to-be cds on your list - how’s the new Mark Knopfler?)

Shostakovich’s suite from The Bolt, Jazz Suites 1 & 2, and Tahiti Trot. Shostakovich’s less serious stuff is wonderful, and The Bolt is unjustly obscure IMHO, no matter how dreary a ballet about industrial espionage may sound…

Bob Holroyd - A Different Space

Hilary Hahn - Barber&Meyer violin concertos

Eric Clapton - Unplugged.

Just took out Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt

At the moment, I’m playing KMFDM: Angst. This week I’ve been alternating between that and the Entertainment Weekly promo cd 80’s Explosion.

Shedaisy, The Whole Shebang. Before that, the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.

In the house I have Duncan Sheik, Daylight.

In my walkman I have Duncan Sheik, Phantom Moon.

I just love that guy.
