What are you looking forward to?

Hey, that’s a good one. This morning, I came across another that’s similar in essence: “You won’t win if you think you’re a loser.”

IMO, it’s important not to get hung up on being different, but the fact of the matter is that everyone needs to know there are other similar people out there.

At the risk of causing a hijack (and I’ll stop after this), knowing it is extremely useful in that it explains a huge amount, probably including a lot of my posts here. The main thing for me has been the misinterpreting of others’ behaviours to just enough of an extent that I frequently failed to respond or respond appropriately and these failures have been consistent enough and surgical enough to have had long-term consequences. So now I understand why, but it would have been a hell of a lot more useful at 14 or 24 rather than now, at 64. But alas, shit happens

Your whole post is pure wisdom for the affected individual and their family.

As to “why the label” another practical answer is “The system won’t help you appropriately until you have the label. It’s your admission ticket to treatment and education aimed at zebras, not run of the mill horses.”

I look forward to every post in the monthly photo competition threads.

This is just a small thing but I’m looking forward to 3 of the grandkids staying overnight this coming Saturday. They’re aged 12, 11, and 5. They’re very easy, fun kids to have around. They will request McDonald’s for supper and I will also have all of their favorite snacks. We’ll play some board games or card games. We’ll maybe watch a movie, but it’s pretty hard finding something everyone will agree on. Usually the 12yo boy will find something on tv while the girls and I will play a game. Hopefully it will be nice out and we can be outside and maybe play some badminton. On Sunday, we’ll take them somewhere fun. I’m afraid these days will be coming to a close soon. With the older two anyway. They’re already so busy with sports and soon friends and other activities will take precedence over poor Grams & Gramps. :pensive:

They may get busy in the future, but I guarantee you they will never forget these times and the love you’ve shown them. Speaking as a grandkid full of loving memories of my grandparents.

I’m sick today, so I’m looking forward to feeling better. But also in the short term, slowly getting some household tasks done and then sitting down with a sparkling water and reading in bed to reward myself.

Since Covid cancelled some of my international trips, I’m appreciating the smaller ones I get to go on.

Like friends getting together for a road trip to Milwaukee for a Brewers game. Best part is that we go early and get shakshouka at a cute little bar/cafe.Then it’s a quick walk across a park, under the freeway and into the stadium!

eta: Oh, wait, the best part is that we’ve now got one too many, so I volunteered to drive separately… and I get to listen to a good audiobook on the way.

Yea, I have a lot a great memories of my grandparents too. They were a huge part of my life. I always try to do things with the kids that they’ll remember. Some of the things we do are yearly or even more often activities.

Middle Fork of the Salmon is seriously blown out by storms a few weeks ago. We’re still going, but everything will have to flown in to Indian Creek. Not our problem, but a bummer for OARS. Judging by the photos the upper stretch may not be runnable for a long time–major debris flows, log jams, and a new class V rapid.
