Feel Good Friday: I'm Looking Forward To. . .

I’m looking forward to 2 things actually. . . .

  1. Dragon*Con is only 20 days away!! A whole week of being the total, ultimate uber geek and wandering among my peeps. Squee!!

  2. My boyfriend’s birthday is next Saturday! I bought him a present yesterday that I know he will enjoy, and I’ve got us scheduled for back massages at the spa. So yay!

So even though my boss just walked by and said something about putting in a long, hard day - I don’t care. I’m walking on air.

This is the kids’ last week before school starts, and I, for one, can’t wait. Things do get more hectic during school, but somehow the whole household seems to run and feel better when everyone in it has something going on.

I just finished a huge, hugely important paper that I’ve spent the last month and a half writing, and the last year stressing over. I’ve got family coming to visit, and I’m taking a week off to hang out with them and have stress-free fun! WOO!

Next week we go to Toronto!

Rafe, Jr., age 8, has finished his first week of “real” football practice and season starts in 3 weeks.

Aug. 29 is a get-together at a friend’s house for a full day of grilling buffalo burgers, archery shooting and general camaraderie.

Going out of town to see my folks today.

My husband has the full day off tomorrow. I look forward to spending time with him. Maybe an impromptu road trip?

My sweet boy is coming over, then we’re going to the Indians game (yay baseball!) to sit in my awesome seats (yay clients with season tix!) and then we’ll watch the biggest fireworks of the season (yay Rock-N-Blast!) then yadda yadda I’ll get to see my niece tomorrow

I’m looking forward to my next job - since i just found out that I’m losing my current one in 2 weeks.

Damnit, I broke my own rule about Debby Downers. But really, I’m going to be positive.

Mother in law is taking the kids tomorrow at 1:00 and will be watching them the rest of the afternoon. Meanwhile wife and I will nap, and possibly “nap”, and then go out for a nice dinner. After which we have front row of the balcony tickets for Wicked, and by the time we get home the kids will be in bed. A very nice half day to recharge.

Camping tonight with my husband up above the cloud cover to catch some of the Perseids meteor shower.

Hiking tomorrow morning, followed by a solar observing at the observatory on the mountain we’ll be camping on. Then going for some well deserved massages after that.

My 40th birthday party next weekend with a bunch of friends, and a fun beer event.

Getting my braces off in 2 and a half weeks!

GET BACK TO WORK!

/Boss voice

I thought you were going to Montreal? Or are you going there too?
I’m looking forward to not working this weekend. Then again, I might not get out of here till 10:00 tonight.

suck it! lol.

It was cut for budgeting purposes - I’m not tied to the bottom which makes me one of the expendables.

I’m meeting my former parents-in-law for the first time in over 21 years as they’re coming to see their granddaughter for the first time. About a year ago we found each other on Myspace and we’ve been close since.

Also I’m looking forward to not having to get out and drive in this heat. And it’s the first weekend after a long traumatic first week of school for my little one.

Looking forward to weekend in central Mass with wife and her brother’s family. Pool, adult frosty beverages, lots of hugging and kissing. What’s not to like??

Might have to stop at a farm stand, score some fresh celantro and freshly plucked tomatoes and find a nice soft avocado and whip up some summertime perfect guacamole.

Mmmmmmmmmm… guacamole…

I’m looking forward to…

Burying my nose into the side of my kids’ cheeks and inhaling deeply as soon as I get home.

“Napping” with my husband over the weekend.

Not working for a couple of days.

Sleeping past 6:15 (okay, so I’ll probably be up before 7 anyway, but at least it’ll be because a kid climbed in bed with me, not because my alarm went off; and I won’t have to shower immediately, either).

Going to the Y and swimming some laps or lifting some weights.

Making fresh food for the next week (I’m sooooo sick of the black beans I made last weekend; I still have leftovers and I’ve had beans four times this week! I think I’ll freeze the rest).

Organizing our tools down in the basement. Or organizing our basement, for that matter.

I’m getting a basketball hoop for the backyard this weekend. Roomate and I have been wanting one for a while but couldn’t because of money.

Seeing my sweetie!!!

In the short term:

My daughter starts preschool on Sept. 7th. It’s a co-op school and I get to go to class with her. I’m so looking forward to meeting other moms and I think it will be really good for her.

In mid-September we’re going on a mini-vacation. Really looking forward to the break in routine.

In the long term:

We plan to start trying for kid #2 in January. Can’t wait!

All of us are in a good friend’s wedding in March. It’s the last wedding I’ll be in for the foreseeable future. And I can’t wait to see hubby in a tux and daughter in a flower girl dress.
